Stage 2-3 exhaust with magnaflow mufflers

Im looking into getting a stage 2 or 3 exhaust. now I need some input because im thinking of also getting magnaflow mufflers. I know the stages have been looked over, I just havnt seen any threads that show magnaflows with a staged exhaust. any opinions.

If you keep the res 18" or somewhere in lenght, magnaflow muf additional to it sounds good. I think
zachlone has it, he loves it

ive seen a vid of magnaflow mufflers, had a nice deep tone and growl. 18" is stage 2 right, magnaflow res. just so many variables, because ive got a jpipe. ide prefer just having to make 1 trip to the shop.

No
For Stage 2 people usually go with 14"... well, stock is around 18", they want something louder.

and Stage 3 Dynomax is 12"

Dynomax 24234 is the part number I guess
I have Magna 10416 which is 14"

If I were you, I would try this.
Leave mid muff alone
Replace res with some 18" Magna or Dyno
Remove rear 2 mufflers

or
If you want something nice, do the Stage 3
Add the 12" Dyno res, remove the mid muff and add RV6 J-Pipe

Soo its either swap res for an 18" magnaflow, with straight pipes for rear mufflers. Or 12" dyno res with no mid muff. Decisions decisions.

This is my exhaust. AdvanceAutoParts usually has a bunch of sales like 40$ off of 100$ on their website.. and I think the magnaflow muffler is 70 on there so basically the paints i got with it were free. This is stage 2 mid muffler delete and swapping the stock resonator for this

People say leaving the stock res + mid muf AND removing rear 2 mufflers sounds nice

I am saying instead of stock res with that set-up, if you put Magnaflow 18" resonator, that might sounds nice and give it a better tone
I tried all straight pipe with 14" resonator. Even no mid muff
Sounded like hell

12" Dyno res and no mid muff is Stage 2
I've heard it in person but also heard it with RV6 J-pipe... difference was big as hell. Loud and really was hearing the tone of Dyno res with J-pipe

Just listend to zachlones and another members vids of there exhaust with the magnaflow rears, im digging it. the vid above that Jklaz put up just sounds to hollow for me. so I might just go MM delete, a bigger res with magna rears.

Nick - with the 24235/11365 combo you won't get any rasp with a jpipe, in my experience anyway. But as Zach states there may be some drone that you may or may not like. I have the 6MT with the v3 jpipe (no 3rd cat) and the aforementioned exhaust parts. Of course I can *make* the exhaust drone by placing it in a higher gear at low speed, but I can also modulate it with a gear change so this isn't an issue. Your sig indicates you have a 5AT, so your experience may be different. My exhaust sounds more pronounced than in Zach's video, but as has been posted many times before, videos aren't exact for determining exhaust tones.

Bottom line is it's your car, so have fun with it. I know you want to "get it right" with just one trip to the exhaust shop, but if you have a lot of concerns just go step by step. Start with MM delete and drive it for a while and see what you think with your jpipe- it may be plenty for you. i know i really liked that combo, but i ended up just wanting to try different exhaust options after a while. In fact I think the v3 jpipe and MM delete sounded a bit better on my car than just the 24235. But with the 11365s there is a significant change in sound - more pronounced and performance oriented. So what if you have to go back after a MM delete? The sound is so subtle, but it's there - especially with the v3 jpipe (IMO).

James

^ thanx, I mean drone is fine, im just trying to avoid rice rocket raspyness. ive listened to countless videos with stage 2 and 3's. but with the new mufflers it just gives it a different kind of deepness. just had to make sure before spending the 160$

No problemo. With the radio on, I can barely tell the exhaust is there at normal, daily driver throttle. Conversations with people in the back seat are a non-issue. But when you start it up, it sounds great. When you kick it in the pants to pass someone, it sounds great. I haven't heard the magnaflow resonators in person, but I didn't like them in the videos. The 18 dynomax plus the Mag mufflers sounds pretty good though. And of course my 13 & 10 year olds love it, lol. Plus the wife likes driving the car as well so double bonus

I recently did a stage 2 exhaust + rear two muffler deletes. It sounds sooo bad in person. I totally agree with you on the fart can. The videos are pretty misleading. I'm thinking of adding 11365s on the rears to fix this. Thanks for linking all the vids together! I'm going to grab my Zoom h4n and record the interior audio and post it up. Those in-camera microphones don't do this terror any justice.

This was my old exhaust setup. All mufflers and resonator deleted and replaced with straight pipes.

For my new setup I just welded on a dynomax 24215 muffler and kept the mufflers deleted. Sounds great, and actually has an aggressive tone to it WOT.

I really like the sound of stage 3 with magnaflow 11365 rears. Probably the best sound IMO.

Been a while since the last post, but I certainly would like to hear stage 3 + 11365 + v3 jpipe if someone's got a vid of it. Been try to find one on Youtube and haven't been able to.

Try Amazon for the res, got mine there.

For the J-pipe, you'll probably need to order from a place like EndlessRPM or Heeltoe Performance.

Do you have any recent or cold start videos with that set up? I just did the MM delete + Dynomax 24235 but it's quite quiet, so I'm looking into the RV6 J-Pipe + two Magnaflow 11365 mufflers

Here's one I particularly like I found on Youtube. Stock res but you get the idea.

XLR8 v1 jpipe, test pipe, stock resonator, mid muffler delete, Magnaflow 11365 mufflers

I have Stage 3 right now. Next thing will be adding Magnaflows and maybe J-pipe after if I want more sound

I just did a stage 2 with magnaflows and lowkey hate how it sounds. It's just so low pitched and droney, nothing like what I was expecting. It's been a few weeks since the install and sounds a little louder than the vid I linked, but the sound reminds me of an old 4.3 Trailblazer with an exhaust leak, or an Ecoboost F150. I know I have a small leak where the jpipe meets the rear precat, but after doing more research, I think a jpipe really changes the sound of the j series. Might have to order one when it's tax return season.
