I'm actually getting this done in 2012 when/if I get my turbo money all settled. I'm trying to get ahold of IHC (inbox always full!) bout the shop he knows that does it. Roughly 13-15k for the conversion. I sold my challenger (well technically half of my share of it) to pursue a turbo and RWD application on the TL since it's my first real car.
So hopefully in a year I will have the fastest TL 600WHP and RWD!

Edit: Done.
These guys have talked me into taking up a street class of racing now. Limited to a 76mm compressor wheel, I'll need 1,100hp to be competitive but since I'm running the little V6 I get a 400lb weight break. With the turbo being the restriction, it only makes sense to run the smaller engine with the weight break. The funny thing is, these guys just laughed at 1,100hp. Everything at the shop is turbocharged from the 3,500hp 356" dragster to the 800hp Civic. Most of the chassis are built from the ground up in shop. These guys are pretty serious.

Lol. It can be done for around $15,000 tops most likely using C5 Vette IRS and components.
Since the engine will have to be mounted longitudinally, now would be the time to decide for sure if you want to keep the 3.2 and turbo it or go with a V8 (or something different), the amount of work required would be about the same and the cost would likely be lower for something like an LSx engine.
If the trans axle ends up in the back, it's going to have very nice weight distribution.
It makes no sense to do this, especially financially but a lot of things we do make no sense. If you have a love for modding cars and you really like the TL and you have the money, why not do it? Plus you would have the only one on the planet.

Yeah because the two are completely different number 1. And if it would take 13-15 g's to turn it into a track car I would still say you're nuts and probably would've never done it because at that point it just isn't practical. But most of what made my car fast on track was completely free (weight) and the rest doesn't even come close to the cost of just that conversion alone.
Hell my track budget for the next 5-8 years wouldn't even be that much! lol
Guys can do whatever they want, I'll always believe that. But this one pushes that belief pretty far...

^ Can't argue with that but if TheChamp or anyone else wants to tackle this project I'm all for it. It would be the first.

i planned doing a RWD conversion as well, it isn't practical to me either. However, i already spent about 20k performance wise including twin turbo and stroked forged, sleeved block so i am not really one to talk. I would love to see a RWD j series though.
IMHO, i say just get del sol and put the J series in the trunk = more faster, and u won't tear up a perfectly good TL.
Champ if u don't do it i will do it . Serioulsly though, make sure u have at least 30k when all is said and done, if u still plan on boosting at least.

If I wanted a 335i I would've got it. That is not the point.
If anything, I would've used my challenger and twin-turboed it. I have a 69' Camaro with 500hp that I can have "fun" with.
The whole point of the TL is the sleeper look. I want to do something that no one has ever done. It's fun and I don't mind spending if, at the end of the day, everything works well. I plan on having about 28-30k for the turbo and RWD conversion along with other things. It may take a little while since I decided to invest in a pro charger for the Camaro.

Yeah well not really. I have a full scholarship for school and they give me 10k extra for expenses a year. I use those expenses for gas and stuff and invest some. Then I work on the weekend catering at the cheesecake factory and make $1000 a weekend for 4 hours per day on saturday/sunday and that's been going on for the past 3 years

It would be nice to see a RWD TL, when I had my 3G eclipse, people in the forum would talk about and AWD conversion and some have done it, they just got the parts from an evo, if theres a RWD acura or honda out there maybe you can get those parts. Just my

I can think of two Hondas that are RWD. The S2k with the F series Engine and the NSX with is Mid Engine C Series. Ive seem some talk about an Older RL that was RWD But IDK much about that because there's a lot of talk about the New RL going to be the first Acura that is RWD. depending the Engine of the New RL, if its a J series we may be in luck of actually seeing a 3G RWD

My only irk with projects like this one is that it really isn't a TL anymore. Sourcing a V8, implementing a Corvette IRS, Jotech talking of putting in Porsche transmission parts, etc.
Sure, you'll catch people off guard, but it won't be by a TL, imo. Just a "kit car" with a TL body on it to look slow.

Not bad, I found a video of it running 12.16@114mph. I would've expected more mph out of a stock LS2 in a Civic but maybe he was having problems.
