plastic splash shield cutting
What did you guys use to cut the plastic splash shield to clear the j-pipe?? They cut mine during install but I can still smell intense fumes in the cabin at every traffic stop. On jacking up it seems like the plastic is clearing the pipe. Any idea what could be causing the smell???

Anyone running this pipe with continued rasp? I replaced my ATLP V1 j-pipe and Hi-Flow 3rd cat and now have rasp from around 3100-4500rpm.
I have had the new j-pipe on for over a week now and put on about 500 miles but the rasp hasnt gone away. I didnt have any rasp prior to this install either. The performance is great from it, but I dont know if I can put up with the new exhaust note.
All mods are listed in my sig. Any help is appreciated!

I read the mods in your signature. I noticed you have the rv6 PCDs. Didn't you have crazy rasp before you put this pipe on? I don't understand how you can just now be getting rasp. I'm assuming you had the HFC on before and now it's not on because of the j-pipe. You might have to modify your nice ATLP exhaust to put that HFC back into the system.
Adding the HFC back into the mix might defeat the whole purpose of this j-pipe though. As for now I am on the fence about keeping this j-pipe or selling it? The performance end of it is amazing but the sound is

OR, here's another option Johansen...you can take out the Bpipe from the ATLP exhaust, then have an exhaust shop mock up another 2.5" pipe, with flanges, and you can add a larger resonator in there, then bolt it up to the rest of the exhaust. This is the easiest way to keep your whole ATLP exhaust intact. You could even add a similar size resonator and put your HFC at the very front of the new, mocked up Bpipe right after the Jpipe.
Honestly, adding the HFC after the Jpipe will NOT defeat its purpose. The only reason why it was deleted in this Jpipe design was so longer primaries could be used to get maximum gains. Basically, if the HFC was in a different spot, it could've been used there. It was just in the way of creating longer primaries for the Jpipe. Honestly, I'm not sure how efficient the HFC will be (for emissions purposes) being so far away from the source (as someone else pointed out), but it will definitely help your rasp issue.![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
It may cost you like $150 to have this done, but it'll be worth it in the end!

Got mine put on about a week ago. I was waiting for the nasty smell to dissipate before posting a review. Well 2-3 days after install the burnt smell decreased in intensity and by the end of week 1 it is almost gone.
Product review: Good finish, light weight and includes all necessary hardware. Of course reliability data will have to wait until more people have it for longer periods of time. Welds seem to be precise too.
Performance review: This thing is for real. It definitely makes a difference. I have an 07 TL-S AT and my car feels lighter. That is the best way to put it. Acceleration seems easier. The engine is revving faster for sure. I already had the Fujita CAI, PnP IM and TB bypass done. I am on a stock exhaust. I always had a problem with poor low end torque. With the above mods and particularly the J-pipe it feels much better. I have not done before and after dynos, I don't much believe in them. I will be doing a 1/4th mile soon and we will see how I do. I feel that the exhaust is slightly deeper, it could just be me though. I do however strongly believe that my CAI has gotten a little louder. I want to believe that the motor is breathing better now and hence the increase in the CAI.
Finally a word of appreciation for Rich. Great guy and I am sure some others who have met him in person would agree with me. I have not worked with the other vendors here but from my experiences with vendors for the Z market let me tell you people like Rich are few and far apart. I hope he continues to design and market products for the 3g and thrives while he does that.
Eagerly awaiting his next project. Anyone contemplating to get this pipe should take the plunge. It works!

the V3 sounds freaking incredible... I can't wait to put my order in with Rich. I recently had the AEM V2 put on my 07 TL-S AT and DAMNED it currently growls like a hungry slob with WOT...I can only fathom the thought of punching it on our wide open country roads with the Jpipe mod from RV6! I saw the dynos but am still sorta a noob to the charts... I'm guessing I got bout 5-8Hp gains with the AEM V2?? Whats your idea of total gains with both the AEM V2 CAI and the V3 JPipe?? If it saves me a gallon or two per mile that will sell the wife though! Thanks!! Can't wait!

Rich, where are you located in reference to Chicago?
I'm directly across the lake in St. Joseph, Michigan, and when I purchase the pipe I wouldnt mind a small roadtrip to pick it up...

That was the nice part, I didnt have any rasp with the PCDs with my HFC. I mean I understand why I have rasp now, just from what everyone has been posting didnt know if I was the only one.
Adding the HFC back into the mix might defeat the whole purpose of this j-pipe though. As for now I am on the fence about keeping this j-pipe or selling it? The performance end of it is amazing but the sound is
btwn the mentioned rpm range. Decisions, Decisions...

Your not alone brother and Jmkiang we talked about my Rasp issue a few weeks back when I installed mine! I just posted a thread yesterday about this as a matter of fact!
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/anyone-done-rv6-v3-stage-3-stock-exhaust-776425/
I have the same never ending Rasp and I F__ing hate it!! Mine comes in around 3,000 and goes to about 4,000. I have no Mid Muffler and the Stage 3 DynoMax resonator. I am trying to be patient and wait for the RV6 Cat back to be released in hopes of it having a resonator option better than mine!!

Never heard of it but as I stated above I am trying to hold out for the RV6 exhuastt to come out! I will either be buying on of those or soemthing off of the Black Market from people like yourself that are going to be trading up! How much are those? Do you have any kind of links?

had mine installed for a few days now and man is it awesome
i installed a AEM CAI V2 along with it and that coupled with the j pipe make the car pull harder, def feels more aggressive around 2-3k rpms
the sound is nice as well, seeing as how this is all ive done as far as engine exhaust(yet) its nice to have a little growl when you want it but otherwise stock sounding when cruising
i cant wait to couple the j pipe with the ATLP type s exhaust its gunna be a beast! thanks again richie for the prompt sending and spot on product

Stock Exhaust ![ugh](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/ugh.gif)
Sold it too RonJonTL5757
It is resonated, but the Aero just made it better (sound wise).
Nonetheless, I bought it originally from TylerT which originally bought it from someone else. It was a great exhaust with the Aero Resonator. Perfect sound, good gains, and never had a problem with it.
