3rd cats are the same, primaries are more free flowing than the base

I got a question. Instead of doing the stage 3 or 4... what if you basically did the stage 4 and slapped on a couple of nice magnaflow mufflers in stead of keeping the stock mufflers.... would that keep the exhaust from sounding too raspy? would this decrease power? Im not looking for power increase right now, just a cool look and sound but dont want to LOSE power.

Anyone have a reliable (recommended) shop on the north side of Indianapolis that could do a stage 3. I just got my 06 TL and am looking to make it a whole lot less subtle.

I agree! Keep the resonator and just delete the mid muffler. I did both at first on my car, at around 2.5k rpms it got a little to ricey, lol. I had the resonator put back in after that. For a little more sound you could always get dynomax or magnaflow in place of the resonator.

i had mine done up like this for a little while... it sounds had a litttle drone at arround 2.5k rpm but past 3+4krpm it sounds reallly sweet, you might find yourself wasting some gas to get that tone, but the nice this is when your crusin its not overbearing or anything

i got my resonator removed before my mid muffler and it sounded better but still to quiet for my taste i took off the mid and i liked it better with both off.
just my 2 cents

im having a hard time deciding now lol. the TL stock is way quiet. it isnt the sound the car deserves. Does anyone have any Clear Quality Videos of their resonator delete and mid muffler delete?

I'd like to know of a shop around here that does aftermarket stuff/installs period. I'm this >< close to buying a CAI but don't think I'd be able to install it myself. I'm sure not going to have Ed Martin Acura charge me an arm and a leg...

Why not DIY?.. this isn't rocket science. There are several DIY threads on most mods and if there isn't there are dozens of guys here who could help guide you on it.. you have to get your feet wet sometime.

well you still will have a cat and 2 mufflers...and resonator if you decide to only remove the mid muffler...check the internet...plenty of videos on there with people and there mid mufflers removed....you wont be dissapointed...it sounds really good...a sound the tl deserved in the first place...:-)

I've read the DIYs, etc. It's just that I have no experience whatsoever. And I guess that really all that necessary for a CAI, but then again, messing with engine components freaks me out. What if I pull out the wrong hose?

I just went to the Car X in Carmel near 116th and Keystone and had a guy do it for me. Only cost $70 to do it and took about an hour.

I just paid $70 to have mine done. Removed both the stock mid muffler and resonator and replaced it with the Dynomax resonator/race muffler and some pipe. The sound is fine not to loud but only went up to 65 on the way home. I'll see how it does in the country tomorrow and on the highway.

Ah, thanks for the heads up. I think there are a ton of those aftermarket shops out here by Oriley raceway though. If I run into trouble on the westside, I will for sure make the trip up there to your area.

Could. I doubt you would notice any sound difference with the just the resonator gone. Should have gone out there with them before doing the work to make sure it was done as you requested.

Emissions will be fine because you do not remove the converters. Just gain some sound and flow through the exhaust.

i know this topic has has been beaten to death, but after reading most of the threads, I couldn't find my exact answer.

1. Do 3rd gen TLs and TL-S have the same exhaust setup?

2. With a Type-S, should I still do Stage 3 (mid muffler delete, and replace resonator with dynomax), or is there a better setup?

I guess it's a pretty nice mod for 35 bucks and people are saying it gets louder with time?

Overall = but would like it to be more noticeable!
Ok, I guess im in as well. I have been wanting to do this "g35 type tone" as well...It does sound badass under wot through a tunnel without any mods to the stock setup-i have to say.
