Removing rear-under trunk cover worth it??

right now i dont have xtra money to be buying mods that ADD HP so i am looking to free up HP i already have.
i read up on the "putting TL on a diet" thread. i am looking at removing my rear under cover for the trunk.
but i was looking at it today and it is designed to work as a diffuser.
i want to do this because i had a big bag of tools in my trunk for like 2 weeks that weighed about 20lbs and with even that i could feel that my launch was not as powerful until i removed it and was amazed at what 20lbs in the trunk can do.
my first question, how much does that cover weigh? and if i remove it will i feel a drag at high speeds or will it become more noisey?
i dont want my bumper to take all the drag and fly off when im going 100mph, not that i do that very often but there are those times.
suggestions?

Wait are you talking about the the plastic panels under the car or do you mean the carpeting in the trunk?

i mean the big round plastic cover under the trunk that has two "wings(08 tl)" on each side.

If its those plastic covers under the car, those are worth keeping as they help guide air from under the car, less drag resistance, I doubt they weigh much.

*edit*
I would remove,

Rear floor mats,
Plastic panels under the hood,

The resonator for the stock air box and replaced with a tube, or you could replace the intake with any cold air intake,

A smaller lightweight battery, yes even though they are small they are more than capable of starting up the TL, even in the northeast, the only precaution I would take would be refraining from using the radio while the car is off,

A Carbon fiber hood, although I'm not sure if you'll have an appreciationg for the way they look, although you could always get it painted,

Also you could remove the mid muffler and resonator or either one of them, they weigh approximately 8~10lbs.

Also the Front and Rear "boat anchors"; the front one is in front of the radiator, inside the bumper cover and weighs ~10 pounds. Not sure where the rear one is exactly and IIRC it is somewhat smaller/lighter.

I think there were pics on this in the diet thread.

get stickers it'll add 209402394320492230 HP! haha j/k

to want to add power and not have the cash to do it is...a sad thing

instead of trying to take more stuff off the car (always good to do every now and then anyway)

a) lose 100 lbs; gain 1 HP. whether that be on YOUR body or the TL's body
b) craigslist part time jobs and get money to add things to the car!
c) drive 30,000 miles; save money up till that milage point and spend it all on a ZEX kit...insta-stock car to FAST car (i'm not kidding tho, really)

Do a seafoam treatment correctly, and set the tires 2 -4 psi higher than ~normal~
There's your nearly free hidden HP

Whats next- I want more HP but better fuel economy at the exact same time!

Why not? Exhaust mods will do precisely that.
