RacingBrake 2-Piece Rotors 6MT Pics
Well, we only got the front's installed as for now because they shipped the wrong rotors for the back.
Let's begin.
Upon arriving at MrHeelToe, with no time wasted the car was lifted and all wheels were removed. To remove the stock rotors, you need to lift up the calipers away from the rotors.
After the wheel and caliper is removed, each rotor is only secured with two phillips head screws, which may be very hard to break loose. There are a few methods you can use to remove it, because they really don't have a purpose except to help keep the rotor secure when you take the wheel of.
One way is using a phillips head screwdriver.
If that doesn't work, you can try a chisel and a hammer, pretty much tapping the screw into the direction you want it to loosen.
Sometimes it may not even budge, and you can try using a drill.
Here is the screw in description. It's not absolutely necessary, so you shouldn't worry much about keeping it in good condition if you can't get it out. The main thing that secures the rotor to the hub/axle are the wheel lug nuts. So go figure how much these actually help in securing the rotors.
Here is how the stock rotor looked like. You can see how the stock pads wore down the rotor creating a lip at the edges of the rotor.
Rust doesn't look good, and it also adds unnecessary weight!
The RacingBrake 2-piece rotors installed right on without any hesitations and look right at home with the OE brembo calipers.
The black calipers sure matches the black accents of the rotors.
And one more.
Impressions so far.
Normal driving, pedal feels a bit stiffer. I've also replaced the fluid with Motul RBF600, and the pads with Hawk HPS pads. I'm sure the feeling is mainly because of the fluid and pads.
I also took the car on a canyon run (angeles crest highway) this weekend with the new setup.
Before:
With the stock setup, halfway through the run, my brakes would give out, pedals became extremely mushy, stock fluid overheated too quickly, and rotors didn't help it much in cooling.
Now, I'm able to brake in much later, and it feels much safer and predictable. We went up 2 runs, and down both. I can't comment on the cooling efficiency of these rotors yet because I try and try, but I just can't get these to heat up enough to lose any stopping power. So far so good!

yeah, they look a lit Thicker than OEM
looks as if it would screw with the offset of my rims and the clearance to the calipers.....
But you do have aftermarker rims and they fit good on your ride...
Still seems weird guess pics can look decieving..
Not a good start though for RacingBrake, to send the wrong rotors on there first order.. WHOOPS...
I used to work 100 yards from the RacingBrake facility in Boonton, NJ but never went to check it out since the name on the building was not Racing Brake.
Hope you like them they look sweet with the Black Brembo calipers seriously very very nice.. Too bad i bought Rotora's if i could take it back i would

Its totally optical illusion and camera setting forced focal length yada yada
Everything is the same dimensions- dont worry new buyers!
AZN- thanks for the pics and as you noticed the side slot vents quickly clean
themselves of the black coating- but it remains everywhere else- baked into every nook and cranny to prevent rust.
That makes the rotors much more stealthy- draw less police attention
As the brakes really get bedded with some miles and the cross hatch wears off the rotor surface, the bite seems to increase even more- my experience only --may not reflect real life

I couldn't imagine these getting any better, but you saying that makes me even happier. I've also heard that you basically don't even need to turn these, even when changing pads.

Yep- they keep getting better and better- need to install the SS lines now!
the word from marcus on some long term RB rotor use by his personal customer- have gone thru 2 sets of pads with no resurface of rotor- no balance issues- just keep going!
Plus now, with the 2 piece- you only replace the rotor ring itself- the inner hat is reused saving money over full replacement when finally time to do it
Doesnt it figure that Marcus, who was a pro tech, cant find the impact screwdriver when you need it- always the way.
My 10 MM wrenches all go missing right before race season and reappear after! go figure

The rotors fit exactly like stock, so don't worry about fitment! Clearly they bolt on and work without issue!
We already have the correct rotors coming from RB, so no worries folks, this will be complete before long!
Impact screwdriver has never been in my tool box. Usually I just used a hex shaft screwdriver with a wrench on it, but my screwdriver has mysteriously stripped.

So, what is the braking performance like when you are driving in traffic or on the highway, before the rotors and pads get hot?
I need new rotors and pads soon, but my experience with aftermarket pads is that they don't do well in street applications until they get hot, which does not happen in normal traffic situations.
I have some Hawk pads and Cryocooled slotted rotors for my Suburban and the bite on slow speed stops (like someone pulling out in front of you in a parking lot) is not as good as stock, but you notice the performance improvement stopping from high speed and towing the horse trailer.
I like the current stock pad performance with the Brembo rotor (except the dust). I would like longer life, if possible, as I get 35K per set of pads and the dealer will charge a fortune for the replacement rotors.
If I can get something better, at a similar price, with at least as good, day to day performance, I will be all over it.
Who do we get pricing from?

Some general info on Racing Brake rotors with HAwk HPS High Performance Street pads
Great combo!- I dont make extra efforts to warm them for normal street driving.
A few stop signs take care of that.
At track days- I do drag them a few times to really heat them before plunging into corners at 100 mph
On the street- there is some brake dust on the wheels- part of good braking is the shedding of hot pad material which gets on the wheels and acts like glue to any and all road dirt.
Keeping 3 coats of wax on rims solves most of that
What makes RB parts special is the inner cooling vane technology- convergent vane- they call it- patented!
And the special alloy used for the rotor, added to being factory heat treated, and then double cross hatch surface ground- these are ready for action just as soon as the pads are bedded, thats 20 minutes following procedures.
The 2 piece weighs approx 2 lbs less then OE rotors and when you do finally need to replace the rotor-usually after 2 or 3 sets of pards- without resurfacing!
Then it comes apart from its base and saves money on replacement

Same job as installing stock rotors. I give it a 4....and that is based purely on the concept that you may have never done it before.
With a little experience with tools and a service book, I call it closer to 2.5.

If you have ever done disc brake replacement on any car- this is essentially the same.
Nothing out of the ordinary, besides the amount of time you will spend cleaning your neighbors drool off the rotors before install.
Clean em with brake parts cleaner like normal
Grease appropriate areas of caliper and pad backing plate
Install parts and torque all bolts
Do bedding in procedure
Go have FUN
Recheck ALL bolts
Have fun!
Never let anyone near your wheels who could damage
the rotors by uneven and excessive torque!!!
I had to learn to left foot brake the TL on fun runs - brakes so good can I
stay full throttle longer and deeper into the corner entry,
then BRAAAAAAKES! and accellerate out of the apex
Also good idea- while the wheels are off anyway- flush the brake fluid till all new clear clean fluid comes out the bleeder valves
