Pulley Questions!! Help!

So, the weather is warming up.. and I feel the need to do some modding.

I just ordered the Thermoblock spacers (hope they're worth it)

I am about to order my Pulleys from UR racing, but i wanted to ask a very important question....

Ultra SC or S. I currently DO have a 900Watt AMP. I know that underdrive will cause charging problems with the system attached. I would be willing to part with it, or get a lower powered amp (even though i love my bass) if it is really worth it.

Can anybody verify or give some input?

The Underdrive is actually heavier weight i believe. Which one will prove to be more effective?

Also, i searched but couldnt find dyno proven results. What can i expect from either or both?

Keep your amp, and get the stock diameter lightweight pulley. The VAST majority of the performance increase comes from the lightweight aspect of the pulley, not the smaller diameter.

do you have the pulley? I am only saying the Stock size is lightweight because of the shipping weight on UR's website. they said SC was 1.18lbs or something and the S was 2.0

anybody else have input? I plan to order these tonight/tomorrow morning

Man you should do a search but what the hell...

Well first of the spacers are a worthy investment! Important thing you gotta make sure of is that you apply the correct torque and not overtorgue anything, the aluminum is soft! Also remember to retorque everything after some driving, 100 miles I believe. The car will feel more responsive, the intake manifold will be cooler to touch, a good thing meaner colder air=denser air=more power! Don't expect big gain but the spacers should net you a couple of horses but it's more a feel mod! Still worth the price if you ask me! I had the full kit on my car and still have it on although my car is supercharged because of that I'm only using the intake manifold spacer though, can't use the throttle body one.

As for the UR pulleys, they are great, about ten time lighter than the stock pulley. I used to have an underdrive pulley (ULTRA S)-smaller diameter than stock, on my car when I was NA, great improvement in response and the engine revving faster and easier, better millage. Dyno showed a minor improvement in the output but again this is more of feel mod and it's too very worth it for the feel alone!

Now since I'm supercharged I can't use the underdrive pulley since I will lose boost, I'm running their stock diameter pulley(ULTRA SC) with similar results but of course you lose the underdriving part which is more effective at reducing the parasitic loss of the accessories. If you have a juicy stereo system they do recommend using their stock diameter pulley!

If you decide on the underdrive pulley you can get it from me, check the Black Market. If you want their stock diameter pulley you can get from Excelerate on here.

Good luck!

PS. As for the weight difference between the two, both are ultra light, but I believe the underdrive one was lighter, think about it's a smaller pulley! I might be wrong though...

UR website says anything over 600 amp stereo should stick with the stock diameter crank pully
The weights you see may be one actual weight on one and the other list shipping weight as 2 lbs
Either way the stock pulley weighs 8 pounds!!!!
thats a huge weight loss and will improve acceleration/revving because lower mass weight
With the thermoblock spacers you will be set for cool runnings!

The Ultra S pulley is an underdrive pulley, which is not what you want for a car that is supercharger or with a stereo system over 600 watts RMS. You may gain an additional 1whp with the ULtra b/c of the underdrive but that's it. The Ultra Sc stock pulley is the one for you.

PM me if you need one.

Yes my price is better than UR's price on their website. I also do offer installation.

The stock size crank pulley is almost 8 lbs if I recall. The UR pulley for the 3rd gen TL is about 14 oz (again if I recall correctly).

Hey send me a quote for the UR Ultra S pulley, Belt, and Instal quote. This is probably one of the only mods i'm "buying" and not "Making" for my girl's car...lol

2007 TL-S 6Speed. I'm in Stamford, shouldn't be to far from you....I could wait while you install....heck, I'll install it with you...hehe. Are you guys open Saturday's? i would be doing before and after dyno's...so I would try and dyno the car same day in Stratford on my way up...then on my way down.

Cheers.

I'm wishing I had known about what you offered earlier Excelerate. Just last week I ordered my AEM CAI and UR Pulley (stock diameter). I received the AEM, but haven't heard anything on the pulley yet. I ordered mine direct from UR. I'm going to call tomorrow to have to find out what the status is.

NOOOOOO!!!! That's by far the worst news I've heard in days.....okay, so it's not that bad, but I'm definitely looking forward to getting it!! I was hoping to install all the performance mods I ordered the other week and then dynoing the car. I'm gonna do a before and after mod dyno, so people can see what stock versus modded with AEM CAI, thermoblocks, and a pulley will get you. I'll most likely do the exhaust (E-Shift and cat-back) next year and I'll dyno it again. If I'm not satisfied, then it's on to additional mods, but they will be entirely custom and take a lot of time and money.

Until I get the pulley, I won't rush to install anything else.....I'll probably wait till this weekend or something
