pro cats vs. J pipe

What would give me better gains for the dollar? Pro cats or just a new J-pipe. I dont want to change my full catback. So would the J-pipe do me any good?

If you haven't seen the threasds, you might want to search on the Pro-Cats. Some members seem to be having durability and/or customer service issues.

Ya i see that, but how much will really be gained if I just add a J-pipe? with out a catback exhaust?

I installed the ATLP J-Pipe on my fully stock exhaust system, and I could definately feel a difference in power. It gives a good boost in torque especially around the 3-4k RPM range where I do most of my passing. It also made the stock exhaust sound a bit "grunty".

The procats have an issue with them because the TL is a ULEV and the cats are built to LEV spec. Something about ULEV vehicles that cause the cats to heat up very excessively in order to warm up the car faster and the procats are not designed to withstand those conditions, if my memory serves me correctly.

Do J pipe and drill out the factory cats, so you can pass inspection.
