Anxiously awaiting my PCD to arrive so i can start my install. I'm gonna do it on jackstands. I looked at it today and it looks pretty tight in there wont be fun for sure but ill have a friend helping me. We should be ok but i was just hoping u guys could give me some advice upfront. I would appriciate it.

Also do u take out the stock precats with the heatshields on them or do u take them off first and then the cats. Also when installing the Precat deletes do u put the oem heatshields back to help with heat or is it fine the way they are. And finally what are some of the parts to remove to help ease on the install?

I used #1 in inaccurate's list^
it has no pictures, but if you know your way around under the hood, you should have no problems.

Make sure you can get the j pipe unbolted from the exhaust before you do anything else. I see you're in NJ, so the bolts should be rusted pretty badly. You don't want to get all the easy stuff unbolted then get stuck on the j pipe. The head bolts for the cats are actually easy to get off. You just have to climb up onto the manifold to get the ratchet down onto them.

I specifically remember having a hard time with the rear end bolts. Make you sure you have an extraction kit handy. You'll more than likely strip bolts. It took 3 (big) guys almost a day and a half to get those damn rear bolts off the exhaust manifold. They're on their REALLY good (maybe worse for our case I suppose). Give yourself plenty of time. Buy your friend that's helping out a good meal after. He'll deserve it.

Looks like it will be fun Not to long ago i installed Richies V3 Jpipe so that one should be easy to get off. I hope there are new gaskets for it with the PCD package. The front im not worried about at all...but the back seems a little tight. Im 6'4" so i can reach over and into
Hope all goes well and the hard work pays off.

Im assuming that the PCD will produce less heatsoak even though they dont have any heatshields on or am i wrong?

In addition to the previous posts...taking the clips off of the O2 sensor could also be a pain in the ass. Make sure you have a bottle of WD-40 handy or any substitute.

If you have an impact it goes twice as fast, My biggest head ache was getting the lower right heat shield bolt off the rear cat. (Thats the pass. lower).
Good luck and have fun! I still get a CEL even with the defoulers... if i would have known that i would have just left them off.

^that was the hardest part for me as well. trying to get the heatshield off of the cat in order for it to come out.
there really isnt any room back there, so you have to wiggle and wiggle.

I installed the defoulers correctly and have NO CEL with my PCD's.

How can you install them wrong? I even used some hondabond on the threads to make sure it seals correctly... but the CEL is:
Bank 1 Sensor 2 Slow response.
And it switches from bank 1 and 2. I have a code reader so i just check it once a week and clear it to just make sure there are no other codes.

^maybe when installing/un-installing you banged up the 02 sensors. they're really sensitive.

I took extra caution not to bang the sensors when taking off the cats.

none for me either. if you aim the defoulers properly and don't damage the sensors during install...you will not get a CEL.

the PCD's do come with 4 gaskets. 2 for the heads, and 2 for the jpipe.

and i'm sure its still hot as hell under there.

That indicates the o2 sensors aren't seeing enough exhaust, which makes the ecu think the o2 sensors are not working. You may want to try screwing in the o2 sensors further into the defoulers if possible so they see enough exhaust the ecu doesn't think the o2 sensors are not working. An 8th gen accord member got the same CEL, screwed in the o2 sensors further didn't get it anymore. Its a bit of a fine line, if you screw the sensors too far in they may see too much of the catless exhaust and get the inefficient cat CEL, once you get the sensors positioned in that right medium you shouldn't have a CEL. Weird! I have the sensors screwed all the way into the defouler but the defouler is not all the way into the PCD (this is the way i got them used from a member). Maybe when i feel like messing with it ill pull them out and see if i can screw them in more.

Next time you have your car on ramps or jack stands I would just tighten the defoulers all the way into the pcd's disconnect battery and see if CEL comes back on.

Do u guys recommend covering the new precats with some kind heat insulating material to prevent damage to other parts around it or is it ok just the way it is?

The PCDs will run much more cooler than the oem precats. You know how important it is to me to keep the underhood temps low. And I am very impressed with how cool the PCDs operate. I have never felt the urge to wrap the PCDs.

Yesterday my friend and I took out the OEM Cats with ease to be honest, it was just time consuming cause there is a lot of stuff in the way. We put the rear on the ramps and jacked the front onto the jack stands as high as possible. Had tons of clearance under it. You just have to have the right tools, impact gun swivel and the right rachets and sockets. The only little pain in the as was disconnecting the harness where needed, whatever part had a screw was a peace of cake. I was suppose to get my new pcd today according to fedex but suddenly they changed the estimated delivery day for tomorrow, which kinda sucks but its not a problem other then me being a little eager to find out about the hype

Not really most of the time we used rachets, cause u cant fit an impact many places but when taking of the jpipe from the cats sure made big difference, put a swivel in addition and things come off pretty easy. I cant believe i let somebody else install my JPipe. We took it off in about 10 minutes.

You cant just tighten them you have to take the precat off, there is not enough room to turn them without hitting something. also i have a code reader so ill just clear the codes.

Guys one more question regarding the defaulers, when u tighten them down is there a possibility of exhaust leak since there aro no gaskets involved at all or is it something i shouldnt worry about?

Just finished my install tonight. This was the biggest PITA I've ever dealt with. Do whatever you can to get a lift or some really high jack stands. I did this on a pair of ramps only a foot off the ground and it sucked trying to wrench from underneath. It didn't help that we've had high winds with gust blowing dirt in my eyes while under the car. After about ten hours spread over three evenings I'm done, with no CEL and no exhaust leaks. Seems to be a bit of rasp/resonance from 3k to 3.5k but it's so minor that I can't hear it with the radio on. Can't tell much difference down low but noticeably better up top. I'm eager to take my next road trip to see how mpg is affected.

thats funny that you say you cant feel down low.
2k rpm feels very smooth to me. instead of a jerky high revving engine, it has evened out the power band. which feels lke TORQUE!!!! winning!

i get a slight ressonance at 3 to 3.5k as well. i dont like it.
