Houston, we have lift off.

on 4/18 I ordered pre-cat-deletes.
lots of patients were required as they weren't going to be shipped till another 2-3 weeks.
I finally received a tracking number and the estimated date of arrival was saturday 5/14.

I woke up EXTRA early(maybe not that early as I went out the night before), but I did take the time to take apart my car before the pre-cat's came.

I followed the steps of the diy provided by Stillhere.

here's a comparo/rv6 products.
the PCD's and Jpipe look very sexy.

first impressions?
well the engine has always been HIGH Strung. this is my first high revving engine and I didnt necessarily like it.
Turning the car on for the first time after the install, I could already tell that the power has evened out, or became more smooth.

even with stock exhaust, I do have a little rasp at 4k but goes away as soon as I hit 5K.
as the revs climb back down to 4k, I can hear it again.
I dont know if its rasp or something else, but it gets high pitched....maybe its more of air vibrating against the metal.

install went smoothly. no hiccups. well, in order to get the cats out, you have to remove the heat shields. the heat shields were a bitch to wiggle out, since you dont have much room to work with.

I used jack stands. No lift required.

There is a smell. but its not a gas smell.
some has said its akin to a bike and what they give off. I have never owned a bike, so i couldnt tell you.
but its kinda weird. it is prevalent when stopped at a light and windows down, but its not a bad smell. it also doesnt seem like its coming from my car, but I know that it is.
Windows up, no smell at all.

I cannot tell how fast I am.
I am lightened with the jpipe and pcd as my only two mods.
I did benchmark my TL with another 6MT and I pulled at 3rd gear with just jpipe. Will have to do it again with him to see how far I sprint ahead.

I mentioned the sound is high pitched.
going under a bridge, it sounds like a crotch rocket. very high revving.
at least thats what it sounds like in the cabin with the windows down.

will get drive by's later today.

Sharksbreath(aaron) told me that after a few days, the sound will change after a bit of carbon build up.

I kinda like my "rasp" as it lets me know that vtec is working
will record videos and let ya'll hear, as I dont think its rasp.

A BIG THANKS goes out to 2 people.
Richie V6 has made some incredible products and I'm itching to get the next piece *AHEM* True Duals without the tips. He also has very good customer service and his word is the bird. I sent the full payment and called him the following day, wondering where my order was. He told me that it will be shipped out the first or second week of may. True to his word, it came the 2nd week.

another shout out goes to Member Bada$$vtec for always helping me during my installs. without him, I'd probably would still be doing the install right now...
Thanks Emmanual. You're a great friend.

Just noticed the bike stuck to the ceiling. I'm wondering if there's no gravitational pull in that garage??

LOL, the problem is me. Watch out now!
300whp here I come.

luckily for me, the car is not a daily driver. Hell, she sat on jack stands for 3 weeks when I had brake trouble.
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/brake-check-808641/#post12765078

btw, my garage has no gravitational pull and we got done with the install in 1 hours.

what "patients" were required where did you find them??

...... Oh you mean patience

lol j/k

yea im interested to hear your new set up as well... do you think the PCD's were worth it? it would be nice to have dyno'd before and after.... do you have to worry about smog requirements out in texas?

patience....check.

PCD's are worth it, if you dont mind the rasp or smell.
I def. gained.
with the jpipe and pcd's i'm probably around 245-255whp. and thats being modest.
stock whp is 230 for a 6mt.

As long as the car doesnt have a check engine light, I will pass emissions.
We aimed the defoulers correctly.

Is texas a little easier going on the smog requirments? I know in california we get screwed for messing with cats at all

is the smell something the cats usually catch but now since there are none it is noticeable?? interesting

yes, the catalytic converter catches smell and gas fumes that are harmful to the planet.
some one correct me if i'm wrong, but I think they are filled with charcoal.

it is very illegal to remove any type of cat. I removed all 3.
I dont think Texas uses a sniffer device. all they do is check the car's ECU. if the 02 sensors are showing that it is running right, I will pass.
if the 02 sensors get messed up and throws a CEL, FAIL CITY.

^you have to know the TL to know where the Cats are located.
inspection shops usually have 400-500 cars a month, with all types of different cars.

Richie did a good job, they look stock.

wow, 1 hr install? Impressive.

I was running completely catless for a while and still passed inspection.

Couldn't stand the added rasp with PCDs, Greddy catback, race pipe, J-Pipe, etc so I sold the PCDs.

....
Not "catch" so much as "convert". And no, they're not charcoal. They're not filters.

You have to think back to your chemistry classes. A catalyst is something that will facilitate a chemical reaction, but not be consumed during the reaction.

In this case, it's the conversion of less desirable gases from combustion (Carbon Monoxide, Sulfer Oxides, SOx and Nitrogen Oxides, NOx) to less harmful products. Carbon Monoxide to Carbon Dioxide, for example.

This is done with a structural latice (steel or ceramic) and usually precious metal (platinum, palladium, etc.) catalysts.

Nice. Good to hear that you like them. I'm still contemplating doing them in the summer after I get smogged (I live in california). Would be nice to know the differences between v3 PCDs and HFPCs. I should probably take a break from modding though and pay this stupid ~$1000 speeding ticket I just got. (98 in a 65).

I'm pretty surprised you don't have more rasp than you do with all 3 cats gone. I guess the stock resonators tame it well enough.
