Precat deletes

Can someone give me an authoritative thread on pre cat deletes and how difficult it is to install? i.e. are there any electronics involved (i heard O2 sensors need to be removed). Comparative to removing the catback and j-pipe is it easier or more diffficult?

Thanks.

Almost anything you do in the engine bay is kinduv a royal pain in the ass. The front cat isn't as bad as the rear. The real problem is there is very little room to navigate and get to the bolts. Once you have them out its a matter of removing the O2 sensors and dropping the new cats in. Don't even try to put the heatshield back in for the rear cat.

Below is one link. However, there are many good threads. The best course of action is to do two searches within the Performance subforum for the word "delete" and "deletes". Be sure to select the option to search only titles, not the whole thread. There are many good threads that will guide your decision. This is how I research the deletes before purchasing mine.

i know this is your opinion, but why do you say that? i could see for maybe the CAI where there really is little gains and the chance of flooding the engine, but the pre-cats seem to give pretty good gains for the price. are you just thinking about the hassle of installation?

well if you want more power then yes....they add the most power of any bolt on for our cars besides force induction..... but if you have an exhaust it will create more drone....and smell nasty......

I passed emissions with pre-cat delets and race pipe (atlp race pipe with old heat sheild on so it looks like a cat is still installed when they put the mirror under the car).

the guy from ATLP is the one that told me not to mess with deletes, that the system will do its job as it is. I'm also getting the ATLP j-pipe and high flow cat. No one in Illinois will install the system without a cat.
