Where there is drone and upgraded jpipe prior to precat deletes, there will be rasp... Makes sense? It should because where there is drone there is no resonator

From the handfull of installs I've done from which 2 were resonatorless I think the greddy evo2 with upgraded jpipe and precat deletes yielded one crazy freaking tone... Scary even... (Sunny201's car)... If I were in a ricebucket and tried to race his car and heard that exhaust tone in vtec.. I'd shift to 5th and roll my windows up...

I am hoping richie is sending me either the first or the second 3rd cat he makes cuz I can't continue stinking up the cars I smoke... Left an rsx-s in dust and he was laughing how badly his interior smelled

 

I got the cats ordered for the 3rd cats, the price of the raw cats increased around 35% in the last 4 weeks. Whats wrong with our economy

Question... with just an upgraded J-pipe and precat deletes, will I have to worry about this smell issue? Is it mainly from deleted the 3rd cat? Just trying to understand the different variations in the setup before I buy.

 

Ok here is the deal

the tl has 3 cats... 2 up top 1 bellow... if you delete the 2 up top and leave the 1 bellow you will not smell anything

the smell isn't inside of the car, it is for the people behind you... the rsx-s I was racing was like 10 car lengths and shifted over to behind me to try and ride my back bumper (but couldn't)... then when we got to a redlight he lowered his window and giggled about the smell and he knew I had no cats...

again the smell is not inside the car

Currently I removed the 2 up top and the 1 bellow since richie had not yet manufactured the 3rd high flow cat, the only other high flow 3rd cats available are the procat or the one mike (atlp) has listed on his website but not yet available

I believe richie is going to make a handfull of third cats to gauge interest, once those sell out, if they didnt sell quick they might be the only ones ever made

ps. I kinda like the smell now...

 

try these with the blower...awesome power gains low and top...I HATE MY EXHAUST NOW!!! RASPY AND LOUD!! but it does rip some tires now

i pulled the blower off....i had to replace my a/c compressor b/c some stupid mistake, dont ask...i got a resonator installed and exhaust is perfect now...quiet, no rasp, and no resonance..its too hot to dyno now, the lows here are aroujnd 80 so dyno numbers will suck...when it gets cool outside and i get the clutchmaster clutch/flywheel in, i will dyno again

 

quick question? i was wondering how bad the smell is when you run with no cats?and how much louder will it be?....i have the test pipe sitting in my room rite now...and i have the pre cat deletes on order, and a stage 3 exhaust now....if i run with out all my cats will i still see good gains even with a stock exhaust? and will it be raspy?

 

u need to get free-flowing exhaust to get the gains...the smell is noticable at times but not bad...i had to install a resonator on my greddy evo2 because it was so loud and raspy

 

What kind of resonator did u get? i was planning on getting a magnaflow 18". Do you think that will get rid of my rasp?

 

sunny you know imma say run an aero2.5" resonator or get the highflow 3rd cat from richie

 

18" resonator sounds good, anything under 14" won't really reduce much...

 

Fyi a bigger res doesn't always quieter in fact it can amplify wat is already there

i got a chance to have a full out, fair , red light race with a 335i 4door...

Yes, i lost... BUT... not by that much... until 45ish, we were dead even.... by the time we hit 80, he was only about 2 car lengths ahead... and , i f*ed up in SS mode at 2nd - 3rd gear... i mashed the rev limiter, and bounced off it twice before slipping into 3rd...

if i didnt have my 20" wheels on, i feel i would have had better results.. would i have won ? probably not... but i least i didnt get my ass HANDED to me on a silver platter....

a skilled driver, behind a fully modded N/A type-s (with these things on) i am sure is capable of mid 5' 0-60... and a probably mid 13's 1/4 mile... if not better.. i really need to get my ass over to e-town to drag my car


of course, im sure the 335i was stock... if he was chipped.... forget it....

 

with the 20" wheels on.... sigh... black... order yourself some new wheels

and your statement, that's raw opinion... I think 20's look a tad ghetto... and anyone running 30 series tires is a joke... don't hit a pothole. 20's on 30's is for parking lot show queens, not for folks who like to get dirty.

Sorry to hear your loss Black. That's why I've always said... Even a tricked TL with 3.2 SC and ALL the free flowing engine mods will not take a stock 335i. The powerband gets up and stays up quicker, making it the victor.
2 car lengths at 80 is getting your ass handed to you... That's barely a 1/5 of a mile there, but we'll blame it on your shifts to make us feel better about it.

 

yea... 20's on 30's.... its tough... these where the LAST brand new set of Lexions in 114.3 fitment i could find in the world..... and i love these wheels


18's are gonna come soon, as soon as the 20's sell.... might have to keep lowering my price

ok.. didn't you have a stage 3 exhaust mod done at one point? So according to your logic, with an oem resonator my exhaust can actually sound louder than the 12" dynamax resonator?

Bigger is obviously quieter... Weren't you a part of the exhaust mod thread with over 40 pages to prove this?? People wanted more sound out of their exhaust, so they went with a smaller resonator...

 

well... lets be honest here...

20's... on my car... ride like SHIT !! i did buy them for hot import nights, and honestly, i lvoe the way they look...

they are forged wheels, but still, pretty damn heavy.. .aside from the weight/performance problems, my car does ride like a log-truck

not saying they arent sexy as hell.. but the compromise is there.... and sometimes, i take the rims off for a few days, just so i can zip around town at full power


Kennedys 19s = those puppies are probably like.....20lbs? you have GT-C or GT-V ? cant remember.....

 

i drove the 335i too.. the torque will snap your neck.... ive never driven a s/c'ed TL, so i dunno how it stacks up.... but like i said, i think people like you, types-09, dan....k and any body else with a 6MT s/c , fully bolted stands a good chance against a 335i

what did OMPrelude run? 13.1 or something?? and i think that was without a J-pipe or the pre-cat deletes he just got.... i bet he can break 12's.... type-s on can probably break 12's too.. her ran 13.9 with just an intake @ like 260whp... now hes got 327whp

But if you youtube Vishnu 335i... you'll see it for yourself... 12.27 i think... now , thats FAST... chipped 335i's are faster than e46/e92 stock M3's

 

Volk GT-S... about 21 lbs each... still heavier than my ol TE37s. GT's are 2 piece, forged barrel, cast center, so they're not as light as they could be.

^ lightweight wheels are probably the BEST performance mod for your money... if wheels that are 5lbs heavier than stock, slow you down drastically, imagine wheels that are 7 or 8lbs LIGHTER.... my tires already break loose with my rims or stockies...

 

My car isn't lowered which is why it doesnt ride like shit.i want to lower my car but if i do i would have 18's on them. the nitrogen seems to help the ride quality.
