Precat delete sound at cold start up.

Does the car always sound funny when its cold starting up? I read about it misfiring so the cats will heat up faster. After I installed the pre cats, the car sounds horrible for about 15 seconds then sounds normal after that. no leaks, plugs were recently changed as well with all maintenance.

Yes, the engine does have a distinctly different sound (rough, unrefined sound) during the first 30 seconds upon a stone cold start-up. Here is mine during a cold start (PCD with oem catback). Horrible sounding??? I love the sound. But then again, I live on another planet than most other people.

OP, you said it yourself.
the car is designed to sound crappy because of the extra fuel and misfiring set up.
remove the primary cats and you have a MORE PRONOUNCED sound.

lol. each is own. The only reason I got the pcds were because my cats were going bad and I didn't want to pay 800 for two cats instead I got the pcds for 350. I got a turbo s2000 and a hayabusa so I dont need the power.

Thanks for the help guys. I just wanted to confirm the extra wierd sound for the first 30 seconds of cold start up.

OP....Inaccurate nailed it !!! the first 30 seconds it sounds weird (thats what she says)....I like it....

I have a true dual exhaust and its very throaty....so the first 20-30 seconds are very loud, then it quiets down....

Even mine, with just the jpipe, stage III and stock rear does this for 30 seconds. Sounds like an exotic car...but you know...maybe a little less pricey and fast

Got it Veg...
DANG...I think I'd LOVE an excuse to be FORCED to to the PCD's...but not having to replace them makes $300 seem like a lot...having to spend $800 for oem does NOT.

i know. sometimes it makes me smile, but other times i'm upset because this is supposed to be my regular old reliable mpg cruiser. swoosh and i have been talking though, he has cats and thats still sizably less than PCD's, although i was quoted a nice price for cash/pickup with RV6....decisions

everything worked out great. Just sounds like a bad exhaust leak for the first 30 seconds. after that it sounds great. I have the pcds and mid muffler delete and it sounds great.

I didn't have any problems with removing them or installing them, even the back one. its pretty simple and basic.
