Fellas, after reading a few pages back and since I have access to a machine shop with a couple of old retired machinists, I'm wondering if I should just PnP the parts myself (with their expertise). Now, I'm not gonna be creating CNC programs and all that but just wondering if something like a drill press, lathe or other shop tools could help simplify the process. If it's really easy maybe I'll open up shop with the prices they are charging out here for PnP lol

The P2R spacer is almost large enough to leave alone if you're boring TB and port matching the IM to the larger TB. I wanna say mine was around 67-68 mm, where as the finished TB measured 68mm on the IM side. Actually, my IM was almost large enough to leave alone as well. Most of Maxbore's pricing on that is for the return shipping. It doesn't take much to open up the mouth a couple mm's.

Well guys it appears that there are some differences with the 2008 - 2012 accord v6 where the runners have a different shape (more squared insted of oval toward the engine head side) and also the front engine head valve cover has clearance issues with the aluminum manifold's removable end-caps. Mayormccheese experienced this first hand yesterday. Now to figure out why the hell honda changed this but got 3hp less from the design than on the J35A8 TL-S and Acura RL...

that sucks. I told him it was pointless to swap IM. Going from magnisium to aluminium and now there is clearance issues.

I doubt honda builds their engines for peak hp at redline. It is about "planning where you want your powerband to be located along the rpm range .

The induction system can be "tuned" or designed to have features which can improve the way the cylinder fills and determine where PEAK TORQUE will be located along the rpm range. This is what we call intentional "powerband location" placement."

This link has info on it.
http://www.team-integra.net/forum/bl...culations.html

BTW do you have a side shot of both runners. I bet the accord more squared ones are longer in length. Lends me to believe the accords powerband is more mid range oriented

?? magnesium *stock gen8 im*> aluminium *stock base 3.2 im* that's all I saying.

I wasn't bitching about your runners or your port and polished. Cuz I told him to do the runners also. I didn't know the gen8 runners were that different. Cuz there was a post on drive accord and they looked very similar.

those studs are easy to remove. the heads break off so easily that the body doesn't really have any pressure holding them in. see if you could grab them even with a fingernail to turn them.. if not, a screw driver, and then if not, broken screw remover from home depot for 5 bucks but thats last resort.. i found this out AFTER i bought the screw extractor and i forgot who i told this too and his was the same thing, he found out after buying the screw extractor.

Remove the cover and see if the body of the screw is showing above the manifold

Unless you talking about the 2 studs that have nuts and not the screws...

I need some quick help fellas. So I've read the accord IM and Runners thread several times with a print out and plan to use that as my guide. Here's what I plan to do before starting the work:

1. Remove #19 fuse for fuel pump
2. Start car a few times so to release all fuel pressure
3. Disconnect battery and start opening up the TB
4. Follow Accord forum DIY.

Tips from folks:
  • Apply a little motor oil to injectors to help them slip back on
  • Once IM is removed, cover the runner openings so nothing falls in
  • Torque IM bolts to 18 lbs and the other ones to 9 lbs

It would be great if anyone can chime in with any extra real world tips. I felt nervous about doing my brakes but that was a breeze; I spent more time talking myself into thinking something was missing

I used that .. I didn't need it much , once u get under the hood everything looks kinda obvious what needs to be done

Motor oil on injectors did work .. Have a magnet catcher .. Once I had the runners installed and everything I dropped a bolt and had to take. The runners off again
