PNP Intake manifold and Runners Question
Ok, so I am getting Ported and Polished intake manifold and runners for my 06 base TL. the person doing the work is reputable however I am conflicted.
I have asked about Port matched gaskets and the response I got was to use Copper Silicone. something inside me says done use silicone for gaskets, let along in a place like that.
am I over thinking this and it is fine or should I really be using Port matched Gaskets?
Thanks,

aren't you having the IM and runners matched to the gaskets? why would you need a different shaped gasket? my IM and runners were ported to match the OEM gasket (the gasket has larger openings than the oem ports)
either way i would still recommend an actual gasket over copper silicone

Buy new OEM gaskets, give'em to your PnP guy and tell him to match the PnP to the gaskets, and you're all set.
PnP your TB while you're at it.

so you only port the side to the IM. port the IM and the top of the runners to the stock gasket, or open them up larger and make/buy a larger opening gasket.
also bore your TB like suggested above, just send your TB into maxbore or buy my extra TB for super cheap
to be honest there are some great PnP threads on here, i think you should read up what has worked for this engine and let your guy know...seems like he's going his own route without any direction and won't give you the results you could be getting

Are you porting them yourself?

I'm fully bolt on with injen intake, rv6 precats, rv6 jpipe, true dual exhaust, pulley, and ported and polished intake manifold and runners and ported and polished head and only gained 15 whp. Does anyone know the problem?

So if you're 5AT and running Flashpro, you must be '07 or '08. Some 5ATs have shown as low as 205 whp stock, so who knows. But you're saying you dynoed 225 stock? That's very high for the 5AT base. Same dyno?

So after adding the PCDs, cat back, pulley and having all the porting and polishing done, you gained another 16 whp. It could be that all those gains came from just the PCDs, cat back and pulley. There's not enough empirical data on porting on these engines to say if it really does anything, unfortunately. Until someone goes through the work and expense of countless hours of flow bench and dyno time, it's all a shot in the dark.
Did you re-tune after the second round of mods or are you still on the same map?

One or two examples doesn't make it tried and true. ILC was done properly by King's, utilizing a flow bench. And still, the bulk of his gains were from the cams. As far as Atlas, IIRC, his car didn't get any quicker after the heads were done. I'm not saying it won't add power, but too many people just think they can yank their heads and start going to town with a die grinder and get massive gains. The J isn't like a Fox body 5.0 where you could bolt on a set of Trick Flow heads and pick up an instant 35 horsepower. Today's cars have pretty well designed heads.
