Performance Upgrades

I recently purchased a TL Type-S 5AT. I was some serious horsepower and speed. Im currently in school so the S/C is def out of the question just because of the cost. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do???

bro, if you read any of the threads in the 'performance parts & mods' section, you'll be able to answer your own question and more.

E-Shift Pro Cats - good fro about 20 HP and 11 TQ at the wheels
AEM Cold Air Intake - about 7-10 hp at the wheels
Outlaw Engineering Thermoblock spacers - 1 hp, but reduces heat
Exhaust - depending on brand, can get you gains, preassembled one is from comptech
UR crank pully - 1 hp
Rear sway bar - from comptech, helps stability of the car in cornering
weight reduction:
Free stuff:
remove spare tire
remove any extra stuff such as manuals and cargo
Costs:
Lightweight rims
UR pulley

Does the TLs already have a thicker rear sway bar?

stock tl - 17 mm
stock tls - 20 mm
comptech - 22mm
progressive - 24 mm

\The TLs does, but the progress bar will make it even better. There is a group buy in teh black market.

I am happy with the comptech one that i have (i had 17mm before) and it was an improvement. But the ride quality was unchanged for the most part, except for the cornering stability. To big of a bar and the ride might get a bit off.

hmm... so i take it that since progress it not only thicker, but it also has polyurethane bushings, that it should provide even better results than the comptech? If i'm not mistaken, the front sway bar is 27mm in the TLs?

its not neccessarily that its "better". it all depends on your goals for suspension and how you want your car to handle.

if u want the rear to kick out more, then go bigger in the rear, or smaller in the front. For a neutral handling feel (which i prefer for street driving), comptech rear sway + A-Spec yields these results.

although i dont think u'll feel much of a difference between the 2 bars on the street. Pick whichever you prefer, both would be better than stock.

i agree with what you say..., except that you will feel a big difference in comptech and progressive.

Also, diameter isn't everything. Some bars are hollow while others are solid.

he might work for them or has gotten one of their more recent reflashes I remember before someone posted with a similar name that to wait a little more as hondata was about to release the reflash, so its a better chance that he works for them.

i do little side projects with them. Mainly dual ecu setups and harnesses associated with it.

but i have it there b/c i think Hondata rocks. They do extraordinary things using the simplest of things. They've helped me accomplish the impossible, and are continuing to help me with my personal R&D

As for the reflash, all i can say is that there is DEFINITELY good reason why they cannot release it.

06wdp, one question, since you do side projects with them you might know the answer to this question:
When hondata reflashes the ECU for a TL or TSX, is the electronic speed governor removed or killed? I head a friend saying that the governor is programed inside or ECU so reflashing it might erase it right?

with Hondata reflashes, generally that part is left alone. As it is unsafe to even travel at governor speeds. You can check Hondata.com and see what the other reflashes for other cars do. None state anything messing with the governor, as its not involved in any tuning aspect.

With the K-series, they are not modified, but then again, I do not believe there is a speed governor on the RSX. i've topped 150mph on the dyno at the end of 4th gear on my RSX auto. The gauge cluster reads 140mph max.

As for TL reflash, the next time i talk to them, i will see if theres any progress in the TL flash. Heck, i cant even get the flash. And i want it as bad as everyone.
