my custom exhaust

hey guys im thinking about running 2.5in pipings all the back to the stock mufflers, by this i mean running a straight pipe from each bank, eliminating the j pipe, cat, mid muffler n resonator..

what do you guys think?
i got this idea after eliminating my mid muffler n resonator, the car sounds pretty good but now i came across a factory cat back from a 2010 camaro ss which has 2.5 piping and it seems it will fit with minimal mods. i would just have to add a pipe from each bank eliminating the j pipe

Why do you depend on us for an idea that you had???
I suggest you learn about exhaust and how exhaust gasses flow.
after you've done your hw, and know that it will work, try it out.

I would knock it down to 2.25" where you split to the 2 mufflers. 2x 2.25" is going to be more flow than the single 2.5" going in. 2x 2.5" is going to be a lot more than you need and could impact the performance.

That's what I'm afraid of. But as I mentioned before I already have a stainless steel cat back from a camaro that is 2.5in.

Try it!! It would be better to run dual 2.25" for a true dual exhaust for our purposes, but honestly 2.5" will work. It will be pushing out a LOT of air though, more than you could take in without extensive mods. I'm really not sure of gains/losses, but your top end power will be really strong.

Make sure you do an X or H pipe tho!!! Else it will sound like sh!t.

the only mod i have is a cai with a k&n filter which gave me some very noticeable gains... im basically looking for top end power since i only do pulls in the freeway with this car whenever someone pulls next to me...

the cat back from the camaro has an H pipe already... i might throw in some dynomax resonators too....
