Yeah u can go back and forth between parts sometimes as the bottleneck gets kicked around. What you want to do is just plan it all out before you start buying. Cant always do that of course since new parts come out after over time, but in general, thats the plan. I suppose the real limiting factor would be the cylinder intake ports and valves, but unless you want to really build an engine, there's no need for that kind of investment IMO. Seems we can put down ~290-300whp with bolt-ons and a tune. Good enough for most of us, especially on a FWD that's already borderline on traction on the bottom gears right out the box on stock wheels and tires. The more power you add, the more contact area you need between tire and road, otherwise you just spin all day and burn a hole in ur pocket on tires every 6 months, or can't have full fun until ~3rd gear and up. Any more I would look at the turbo kit, or options for head work, either is very expensive. Power isn't the only way to go faster either, weight reduction works too.

Why is honda/acura still putting out SOHC? Anyone know? Seems everyone else has DOHCs with their V6s now a days.

I don't know...I didn't realize it was SOHC, Yesterday your post made me go and take off my Si decal that I had on the side of my TL.

Just romoved my Resonator today. I only removed right side bumper bolts and screw to get enough access. I cut extended pipe at an angle o try to catch a little more air. Think this will help/ hurt?

Just to be clear I used rubber and existing tube that came up beside the battery. I then cut that pipe to roughly a 45 degree angle so the opening faces forward a bit.

^Exactly, what I did.

the stock relocated tubing should come down to where the foglight opening is. or on the 04-06's where the lower grille is.

Thanks for the quick responses! I also cut out a portion of the deflector (only the right half) looks to me that side deflected clean air to the velocity stack and the left side dirrected air to the radiator. This is the areas where the fogs would be. I'm in a 05 and haven't done the fog mod. Probably won't either. Thanks again space man.

My intake resonator delete and custom CAI

What I ended up doing after trying different set ups for a CAI using the stock parts and tubes that I removed was keeping the stock airbox with a K&N drop in filter but adding my own to the rest of it. From the box down I have a piece of PVC pipe 3inch diameter couples to another high flow cone filter with a velocity stack. It's nestled in right behind some of the mesh grill next to the fog light . It use to keep throwing a CEL for bank 2 MAF sensor running lean before doing this mod. I've gained 2mpg on average since then and also low rpm torque is a lot better. Torque steer in every gear when it changed gears. Seems better than the eBay cold air intake I tried on it and no more CELs ..sounds badass too. I suggest anyone looking for a good intake give this a try. The 2 filters does not choke down the airflow enough at all to cause any adverse reaction. Just assures me that gravel and bugs and shit aren't ending up in my airbox like before I had the cone on the end.

deff gonna be doing this tomorrow

so you just reuse the pipe and cut it so the opening is facing towards the front of the car and comes down closer the the fog light?

Here's the thread I drew some guidance from:

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/intake-resonator-removal-instructions-868043/

Then did this here since my air filter needed replaced anyway.

Do you need to connect anything to the intake after removing the resonator? Or do you just take it out and its done

Does anyone have a link on where to find photo by photo steps of how to remove the stock intake to install an intake system? The instructions that came with the intake are not really clear

at people claiming to feel or not feel this mod...you won't feel a loss of torque on a placebo mod. Look up another thread about poor man's CAI where I documented attaching conical filter to the tubing going to the resonator behind the bumper in place of oem drop in. Looks oem from above, CAI performance (or placebo). I like knowing a little more air is free flowing to my crazy high performance 3.2 liter piece of Honda genius.

About removing oem intake. Take off the cover, take off the tubing to the throttle body, take off the bumper, unbolt all the bolts holding it down and remove in pieces.

idk, it felt a little sluggish after I removed the res. then I installed a k&n drop in filter and attached the velocity stack on the tube I cut off and it feels good now. a little more peppier and deff getting better gas mileage. ~2 mpg better and 3 on the highway

Cool

I actually just turn the steering wheel all the way to the right n you can twist off two bolts with 10 mm. It'll take about 10 minutes to remove it. 1997 acura cl 2.2l

Have to say I would not even try this without removing the front bumper.

It seems to be a bit tougher to do this on an 08 TL. I had to remove the battery to get to the bracket for the section up the intake which loops back up into the engine bay(this loops into the fender well and is easily removable on earlier models from what I have seen). It had a piece of rubber with a bolt in it which is supposed to come out without removing it but I could not do it. I reused the piping from the very end of the intake and made a ghetto CAI.

So far I haven't noticed much of a difference aside from a very mean sound at higher rpms 4k+. The lower ranges have a nice deeper tone to them when accelerating at about medium throttle.

Although I haven't tried driving much different from how I regularly do. Will also need to see how gas mileage is.
I ran into this same issue. Plan on removing the battery and loosening that mount that sits right under the stock velocity stack. Can anyone confirm that it's removal is required for 07-08s?

Thanks,

So if I were to attach a cone filter to the bottom of the pipe and remove the filter inside of the box would it function as a cold air intake? Or would you guys recommend just doing the intake resonator removal and leaving the stock filter box alone? Thx

It won't benefit you anything to put the filter down on the end of the pipe. It will only make it harder for you to change/clean the filter and it is already acting like a cold air intake once you remove the resonator.

Just did this mod today, I feel like it has a little more pep to it out of the gate but I don't notice much sound difference, I think it could be due to my stage 2 exhaust. I did notice at idle though the exhaust note is more noticeable which I really enjoyed =)
