Various

Ok, Here are various bits of useful information.

Do not install a lower temperature thermostat. Keep the stock thermostat. If the water is too cold, the engine runs rich.

Intake air temperature is your enemy. Too hot and the computer retards igniton.

So:

- Bypass the heating hoses on the bottom of the throttle body
- Remove the plastic cover from the engine
- Use hood venting if possible
- Use an insulating gasket for the intake manifold. (Our TL intake gasket will be released soon - pictures to follow)

Supercharger

The main cause of the part throttle hesitation is the computer running closed loop at part throttle. Under 70 % throttle the ECU trims the fuel to 14.7. Under 70% throttle, however you are boosting the engine a little - which needs air fuel ratios closer to 12.5 or less.

You can verify this by unplugging the front and rear O2 sensors. The hesitation should disappear.

Will we be able to use it with the supercharger, or will it throw off the alignment.

Oh by the way, I just thought I would throw this out there, I really hope you guys do something with our ECU for f/i. We need an extra 500 rpms or any thing extra will help. I heard nothing but good about you guys and after looking at the results from the TSX, I for a reflash on my car. Reflash I would just pay for the extra RPMS.

I almost want to drive from NJ to Cali to get a reflash and use my vehicle for a test for the intake manifold spacer.

Thank you for keeping us upto date. Hondata is doing a great job working with the customers. We really appreciate what you are trying to do for us. Can't wait to see the end results and to get this for my car.

Test results for the gasket on the TL have not been published. On a recent test on an S2000 it added 3 ft pounds of torque across the rev range and 4-5 peak HP.

here's more usueful info our dyno test showed 8 hp increase accross the board due to added timing from the ECU reading colder ECT

sorry i guess it was only a 6 hp gain from switching to the mugen tstat
btw this takes ECTs from the stock 197 to the lower 183 closed loop occurs at about 138* and this in no way is dicounting the product youre showing looks like a great alternitive to the thermo blok spacer ...and something i too would recomend for additional gains in both hp/lb.ft as well as lower under hood temps

late addition: im not much of one for modding my CL was kept bone stock except for the K&N drop in and i didnt have 500+ passes in my CL at the track either ..

The Hondata one is the intake manifold by itself?

Sorry for being stupid! ! I was going to order the Outlaw Engineering one but i came upon this thread about the hondata... I'm kinda lost right now.

yes and yes but the intake manifold being the most important and to give some more perspective i didnt even use my TB spacer with my outlaw kit

It looks like to me that hondata is a heatshield gasket, and outlaw uses a spacer. Almost the same thing, same purpose though.

hondata is a replacement for the stock gasket. thermoblok utilizes the stock gasket in combination with its own.

This is a good mod....but a pain in the ass. Doing it on my s2000 now. This mod lowers intake temps. I'm not in agreement with the keeping the stock thermostat. The engine will run rich until the motor is up to temp. Then it will be fine. I am in Phoenix where is is really hot. I have done thermostat to my S2000 as well. My TL should be here in 60 days. I will do this intake mod to my TL. The plastic engine cover has to go.

So I got the ThermoBlock kit. I am told to replace the stock gasket with a new one during install of the ThermoBlock. So could we use the hondata gasket with the ThermoBlock spacers for max cooling??? Did that come out right??? It makes alot of sense to me....

Hondata, when your changing the ECU code. Can you make it stop holding the RPM's up during up-shift? And also make it decelerate quicker? It sometimes hovers (when I slip it out of gear) for a few sec. I would like it to go to idle speed NOW!! No wait..... Also did you see my post about the VSA timer?

that would be interesting, use the hondata shield w/ thermoblok spacer? i dont know what kind of seal it would create, but theoretically would provide better heat dissipation.

I dont even think it is a definate that they will do anything for our cars. We have to wait for there opinion on the dynos and see what gains they get. If they are pleased, they will release it. Till then just

Yes i argree with Spiritman if it is possible for Hondata to do this during the edu reflash. Waiting for the rpms to drop down takes the fun out of driving the car. I love the few minutes when the engine is still in open loop causing it not to hold

Yes, the hood looks good, I would love to get a hold of that hood if they do indeed sell them. As for 30 degrees weather, I am not willing to trade beautiful 80 degrees weather where I can do outdoor activities for a 30 degrees cold so I can drive FASTER........

Found this in a CL thread, they say it will work with any J32, so I guess it will work for us.

Interesting how kingmotorsports has just raised their prices for 2 of these parts.
