Has anyone tried to replicate that RV6 True Dual exhaust sound?

In my search for the best sounding exhaust, I've come to the conclusion that the RV6 True Dual sounds much better than anything I've heard on a TL. I just wish I could afford one.

I'm looking into putting together a custom setup that sounds something like that one. I assume its characteristic sound comes from the fact that it uses two 2.25" pipes.

The only dual in/dual out resonator I've come across is this one. Anyone have suggestions for other ones?

Amazon.com: OBX Univeral Dual In Out Oval Muffler Resonator KV5014 Accord Corolla Camry Neon Integra Supra Prelud Without Tip: Automotive Amazon.com: OBX Univeral Dual In Out Oval Muffler Resonator KV5014 Accord Corolla Camry Neon Integra Supra Prelud Without Tip: Automotive

I'm also trying to figure out what mufflers to use. Should I go with a straight through perforated core packed design or a chambered design? What type are the mufflers in the RV6?

Does going to dual 2.25" pipes result in a loss of low-end torque or gas mileage?

Here's a video of the RV6 compared to the ATLP.

LMAO, I was going to link that video for you. Contact Anil (swoosh user name). He's got a custom set up and has gone down different paths, most recently he was eliminating rasp and I believe he used RV6 as a guide. Okay, I happen to know for a fact that he did

Good luck on your quest, friend. It is an intoxicating sound. No loss of anything to speak of, either.

i believe richie used a math formula to help balance between sound and performance.

Yeah, I will say that to duplicate the sound will be tough. Justin and I basically have the same set up and even ours sound different due to slight differences (mine wrapped, he has different cats...even different tips). I couldn't believe when I was getting the tips put on, what a difference it made to the sound when they cut the old ones off!

Can I ask if the exhaust tips on the RV6 Dual exhaust look oem? Are they 4"? How close do they look to the Type S quad oem exhaust tips?

The ONLY reason why they stick out like that is because I have not finished the rear end. I'm still missing the rear type-s aspec kit.

So both you and Justin have the RV6 True Dual? What kind of mufflers are on there? Are they straight-through with perforated tubing like the Magnaflow 11365? And do you know if the resonator is like that too?

That's interesting. How do you think the tips changed the sound? Do you guys have videos of your exhausts?

I have no idea about the mufflers or resonator, I purchased it from one of the original 8 made with the tiny tips. When they cut them off, they were shooting sound into the inner rear bumper making it LOUD in the car. Those are custom oem look alike tips that some local exhaust dude sourced for me.

My car is the one on the right in the original posted video.

Thanks much for the photos. Lookin good! I don't want the tips sticking out like that, but I do have the rear Aspec kit, so I would prefer the exhaust on a TL with the rear A-spec kit. Looks good! But, I don't have $1600!

It's not lazy, you're harnessing your drive! Plus, why do it twice?!? If you're getting the aspec anyway, I'd wait to adjust once it arrives too!

Nice, haha, it sounds so good! I really like the OEM look alike tips too. How's the drone while cruising?

If you look into your mufflers, do you see a straight pipe with holes on the side (perforations)?

Im 6MT and there is drone on the freeway in 6th gear at about 2k rpm.
i hate it. i rather go slower in 5th gear to achieve the same RPM than to be in 6th and hear the drone

other than 6th gear, i love the exhaust

I asked Richie this recently, and he answered "Yes the mufflers and resonators are a straight through design."

Not sure if you can check, because the way the pipes are bent / shaped, you can't just look through it.

Is this drone because of the RV6 dual exhaust in 6th or is it from your Pre-cat deletes...I'm wondering about this drone with High flow cats, j pipe, with the RV6 dual .....no drone on highway?

You mean to achieve the same speed in 5th I assume? How fast are you going at 2k rpm in 6th? I have an MT too, so this might be an issue. I've toyed around with the idea of adding an electric cutout somewhere. I thought about cutting open one of the stock mufflers to install one. This way, when it's closed, the exhaust would pass through the other stock muffler, and when it's opened, it would pass through the modified stock muffler and the other stock muffler (this is only for sound).

Thanks. That's the information I wanted.

There are a lot of people on Amazon raving about this resonator (not in this size but many more reviews for other sizes). I wonder if it will get rid of drone.

I also think I like the sound of the GReddy systems, but it seems that some members think it's inappropriate for a TL? I personally like the look. Do people think it makes the TL look cheap or something? Why don't people like it?

Here's a video of what it sounds like.

I definitely can't see in.
I do not have an annoyingly audible drone in mine, I have high flow cats and the entire thing is wrapped in header wrap.

Wait how is this possible? Different cats and header wrap allows you to be drone free?

The sound seems to be just a higher pitched exhaust listening to other videos, although hearing it in person would be better.

Maybe with a better steel grade material will make the exhaust noise better... I've always like the lower growl sounds than a high pitched one.
