Inside of a Type-S muffler
Thanks for the pics! Mufflers are so restrictive to flow; does that center divider have any other openings besides the three pipes going through it?
Why not just weld on some new tubing/y-pipe and save some weight?

seems like to much trouble. You could have just welded the stock tips to the Y pipe in stead of cutting the muffler open. I thought you were going to use something along these lines
Would have still given you the free flow of a straight through muffler without the noise of a straight pipe

but mufflers don't play a part emissions?
I think he said he wanted to look "stealth." Pretty sure he kept the mufflers for the sleeper look, but as stated earlier, a different style of pipe would have been a better choice.
nevertheless, THANK YOU for this contribution
I always wondered how it looked in there! I expect your car to be one loud sob
, can't wait for the video!

Are you going to dyno it? Personally I'm dubious about any potential gains. Just because the stock mufflers may look restrictive, doesn't necessarily mean they are.
Thanks for posting this though, it's interesting to compare this thread with the other one on here showing the base muffler cut open (https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/inside-oem-muffler-pics-596607/).
It looks like they're basically the same inside, except the TL-S muffler has two outlet pipes instead of one.

understand why there is a warranty in place.
if anything breaks, you can get it replaced.
by changing out the internals of the muffler, you're not going to break anything.
by doing the mm delete, you're not going to break anything.
if these two items do break, then its on you to replace them.
which cost pennies any way.

I ran this across a mechanic at a local muffler shop, showed him the pictures and everything. In his honest opinion he thinks this will do nothing for helping improve the air flow.
He mentioned that removing the center divider is going to cause to muffler to make rattling noise.
If I wanted to do this he recommended just taking off the muffler and going straight y-pipe to the tips. Other than that don't waste money."
I would like to try this but unless there is evidence that this is an improvement I'll leave it behind.

Thanks
