Greddy is loud at first but quiets down so much after it breaks in...
Comptech doesn't show the 11 or so hp of the greddy

i dont know much about the greddy , havent owned one, but everybodys got their own opinions...
my
ATLP > Comptech > Greddy > Stage1,2,3 mods.... but, i havent owned the greddy or been in a TL with it.. im not really a fan of the gi-normous cans
i say comptech.. if you are in the VA, MD or NC area, talk to Kennedy, hes got the comptech for sale.. i think for about $700

atlp>greddy>comptech=123 stages
comptech did not use stainless steel flanges... if you plan to keep the car for over 2 years keep that in mind as they will soon rust out and leak

You guys are nuts.
It's OK to like Greddy over Comptech, they're the new guys on the block... but lets be real here. We discussed this in the past.
Al keeps slamming Comptech, but there are FAR more satisfied Comptech exhaust customers than Greddy ones (only 50 Greddy's in circulation if not mistaken, and I've counted almost 10 in the Black Market already). I predicted this. 25% will end up for sale becasue they're gonna be so loud...
Grabted, that noise is music to some.
Comptech has been selling exhaust for the TL since 2004, Hundred's in circulation according to Nate at Comptech... and never once have I read a report of "dissastisfaction" here, yet stillhere slams them regularly like he's ever owned one...
1) I'm pretty sure we discussed this earlier, but I BELIEVE Greddy does NOT use stainless flanges either, in fact, I believe only ATLP uses them. Most manufactuers use mild steel for the flange, as those have to be machined... and most manufacturers aren't tooled to mill plate stainless, nor does it make cost effective sense.
2) No real reason to. They will not corrode and leak in any reasonable amount of time. In 20 years of driving in the northeast, you may have a leak problem, but guess what, you'll more problems with LOTS of other things at that point. stillhere, 2 years? I bought my Comptech used. It was 2 years old. I've had it for over a year, and 2 more winters... It's still in excellent condition. Please stop knocking a product you've never owned.
My 10 year old Bolra on my Xterra is fine. It's corroded lightly, and the flanges are corroded lightly... Not leaking, and still very solid.
3) Stainless corrodes too guys... Just slightly slower. In fact, I've read the new chemicals used in treating roads are just as caustic to stainless as regular steel.
4) Comparing Dyno charts is futile. None make a lot of power anyway. Comptechs Dyno config and environment was different than Greddy's. Until someone has done same car, different setup, comparing those numbers is a waste of time.
My opinion...
ATLP=Comptech>Greddy. I've heard the Greddy. It's too loud for me, and performance sound are the most important factors to judge by to me.
-ATLP is of the best build qualty, but requires hacking up of the bumper for non TL-S folks. Mild drone at 2500 rpm... My current favorite out there.
-Comptech is excellent build quality, and not too loud. Mild drone at 2300 rpm
-Greddy, excellent build quality... fucking loud. The big 5 inch tips is a bit much for me too. I wanna call them fartcans, but I've kicked off the forum for using terms like that in the passed. Not a slam, great stuff if that's what ya like. I just think they're poor taste for the TL.
-XLR8 -looks excellent... no data to comment. Tips look wierd to me. Need more pics and reviews.
You can't go wrong with any, just recognize the sound is the key factor. If it's loud, your gonna know it every minute it's running. Like the tips or not, you'll hear it every second, and see them walking away from the drive.
and steel flanges don't rust off in 2 years for god's sake...

whats really really funny, is that yes, you did say something a long long time ago, about everybody selling their greddy exhausts, and i remembered you sayingthat.. .some people are even selling them brand new without even trying them... Greddy is a good overall product, my only beef with them is the size of the can....
Kennedy, since you've had both as well as me... what do you think about the ATLP vs. Comptech Cans... I kind of liked how the comptech cans (not the tips) were polished and more defined, showing through the exhaust outlets... ATLP is very subtle and "stealthy"... it really does look like OEM ....my
i would like to hear excelerate's exhaust in person, knowing Josh, he would only sell a quality product

To answer your question. I wish the ATLP cans looked as good as the Comptechs, but the ATLP cans sound much better... that's a winner. Frankly, I wish the rear face of the ATLP cans were painted black to stealth em out a bit, but it's barely noticeable unless you're looking for it.
I like how can look through the rear wheel well and see the ATLP cans shining though.

the Greddys really arent that terrible.. im not knocking them, but i think the can is too big.. and unless your car has serious "JDM appeal" like ACCURATEin, it takes away from the luxury aspect of it all....
comptech
atlp
do you other guys see what im talking about with the "polished" cans on my black car

I straight be talking out my mouth sometimes... I will say it before someone else says but kennedy just me
I agree with blackura about the jdm appeal... I am leaning that route so when I roll by it is noticeable the look I am aiming for
Not for everyone I must say

all exhausts kind of "break in" over time.. usually a few weeks, or like 1 or 2 thousand miles .... my ATLP developed a sound all in its own after 4 weeks of use.... something to do with the packing material in the mufflers breaking in
kennedy, you think the ATLP is great now, wait til it breaks in

Sounds beastly...sounds like me! I gotz to have it!
Question...do you think it will make a difference in sound between the one for the base TL and the quad setup you guys have? Black you made that thang sound like a winner. I wouldn't want a drop-off in the base one...

i think you will lose very little tone, mainly because of the higher flowing cats on the type s... but, ib18ci's videos sounded just as bad ass!! paired with a j-pipe... like donnie brasco said.... "fuh-get about it"
i let bforbrian hear the quads today.. ask him what he thinks
