F the g35/350z/fx35 exhaust tone. it gets tiresome especially when you here it 10 times a day. check out the last half of my dyno video, i took a vid from the rear on the 2nd run. comptechs with procats and stock jpipe. it sounds even deeper now with richies jpipe installed.

both greddy and comptech have very simular tones, but i just cant handle those huge coffee can mufflers. although, they do tuck up underneath the TL's nicer than the 7th gen accords, but are still clearly visable.

comptechs IMO are well rounded, their sexy, slightly aggresive, yet subtle enough to belong on a luxury car. my only gripe also, are the rear flanges rusting over time, but nothing a wire wheel and some chrome/silver high temp paint cant handle.

I think the 350/g35 sound is chalked up to be the stage 3... I think the greddy sounds like a 350z with an aftermarket exhaust lol if that makes any sense...

the greddy sounds real like windy... kind of like a pure with gurgle after you let off the gas...

skip the burnout and go to the 00:30
(I rev'd it in neutral rolling before I backed up next to blackura)

So is it little louder or way louder than 350z stock sound? (just using 350z exhaust note as a comparison.. not really fan of it)

what last thing about the greddys that looks awkward, is that they have HUGE exhaust tips, thats like 4 1/2 to 5 inch?? then when your driving behind someone who has them, the hole opening size of the muffler itself, right past the tip is like 1 1/2 inches lol.

anbody else ever notice that?

GOD, that ATLP exhaust is so sexy looking! that would definetely be my choise, if i owned a type-S. looking good blackura

No need for a Type-S to install ATLP... Just a Type-S lip, a dremel. Bolts right on.

I just dumped my Comptech for this, not that I was dissatisfied with the Comptech, but that I'm MORE satisfied with the ATLP.

DAMN, no ATLP for the accord in the works mike? dual tip with a customized rear lip would look sick.

hmmm thats a good question.... Al (stillhere) has a video of both me and him pulling our cars a little bit... should give you a decent comparison... he also has higher flowing cats then me (eshift) which does contribute to the depth of the tone of the exhaust...

O man...

man .... sorry for asking too much questions... but since ATLP is the best sound you can get out of TL, which one sounds closer to ATLP, (greddy evo2 or comptech)!

you can't ask for one to sound closer than the other... although I did find that the atlp was quieter than the evo2... I do think the greddy has a deeper tone, as the atlp has a evil growl... greddy has a evil rowr (I have procats so I don't know if that adds to the evilness)

i got an HKS Universal's custom 120's and the drone is crazy loud. when I first got them on I was freakin out it sounded so tight. Its been a year they have been on my car. im ready for a new exhaust. I dont think Greddy is the answer. Believe me Greddy owners will get sick of that ricy sound after a year. Its fun and gets everyones attention which can be good or bad. Im still undecided, anyone got an opinion?

I tend to disagree with you 100%... hks canister is straight thru... evo2 is not...

I did the striaght thru canister...(skunk2 to be exact) and I tried it with no resonator from the catback... and the drone bomb was inside the cabin... for the evo2.. the drone bomb is felt on cold starts only... I don't sit in the car while she is warming up so I don't get any of it... you'd have to be in 3rd gear at 2k rpms for hours to get most of it and even so it tends to be more by the rear passenger cuz on the driver and passenger it really doesnt stick around

the guys who installed it and ran the other way once they heard it out of the box they just didn't give it a shot... I got mine off a guy who was in the group buy... he had it on for 10miles... the tubing wasn't even golden yet

if you want the canister look greddy is the way to go
if you want the type s look atlp is the way to go
if you want the comptech look you have 2 choices... atlp xlr8

i actually like how the Greddys look the best. HKS 120's are huge! I think thats why i have a lot of drone. the back seat vibrates. i dont know what to do. can u get silencers for the greddy? also what do you mean the HKS is straight through?
and i take that back when i said ricy. My first car was a 93 integra and i had a greddy exhuast so.

it only requires the type s rear lip... or if you swap bumpers with a type s owner who wants the single exit greddy, xlr8 or the upcoming single exit atlp

straight thru - you can see right thru it... most canisters are this way... the greddy evo2 is not completely straight thru which quiets her down a tad bit

As for silencer options... the tip diameter is 115mm (aprox 4.5")
something along these lines will work but you will have to drill a small hole on the bottom of the tip... sometimes the silencers fit snug and you think you don't need the screw.... next thing you know first time you go wot... tip goes flying out

I was interested in getting a new exhaust setup, and i hear you guys talking about Comptect, greddy, and the XLR8 Cat Back Exhaust. I was able to find the Greddy one at their site for about 900, and i was wondering where else do you guys buy these? i cant seem to find them on sites for a 06 TL

I switched out my comptech system for the greddy system myself. Greddy is louder as mentioned several times already....and I can tell you I havent gotten rid of my comptech unit either. I dont mind the loudness at all....and with the addition of the J-pipe/3rd cat delete it sounds even better IMO, but I am still not sold on either one over the other. Both the comptech and Greddy systems have their merits. Comptech sounds a little more refined and quieter - but the Greddy has a meaner louder more gutsy sound. But....the Greddy will take a little getting used to for many, as it is LOUD and will tend to rattle your brains a bit over extended driving periods, something that doesnt bother me at all frankly.

Fact is....I will probably end up using both of them in the end. I have been planning on installing a lift in my garage soon...so changing them out when I want the other properties of the competing exhausts shouldnt be an issue. I like them both for different reasons.....as stated....both have their merits independantly.
