Future Brakes Upgrade....Need Help!

Sorry for everyone that hates people like me, but I'm a dummy when it comes to brakes. I know if I push the pedal, the car will stop and that's about it. I've been thinking of adding a brake overhaul to my list of near future mods, but don't know if it's all too possible for my year and model. I have a 04 Base TL with stock calipers and rotors. But I want to change them out for a new kit. I've heard of the Brembo swap, but that sounds like a PITA, then I found threads for the Wilwood setup and RL Retrofit.

Basically I just want to know what my options are to switch out my brakes and rotors without having to change a million and five different things as well.

Again sorry for the noobish question!!!

Depending on your budget, you have a few options. Cheapest would be to buy better pads and brake fluid. If your budget is a little larger, new brake rotors, stainless steel brake lines and hi performance brake fluid will give a more solid brake feel. On the most expensive end, switching to the Brembo calipers from the 6 speed cars or a BBK ( big brake kit ) will further improve both looks and brake feel. The truth about braking is its mostly in the tires, repeated heavy use is where fluid , quality of rotor, upgraded ( stainless steel ) brake lines and brake pads will make a difference.

Thanks! I forgot to add I'm driving an AT. Does that make a huge difference in choices I have in switching to a BBK? I plan on spending around $800-$1K

The link provided by justnspace was what I was going to recommend for a BBK. It's a great setup for a reasonable price but if you're just daily driving, it might be overkill. Take a look at our Acurazine Brake Packages:
http://store.excelerateperformance.c...i-1760993.aspx

These packages come with four rotors and pads and 3 of the packages include stainless steel lines. If you just want something that's going to replace your current setup without really adding any performance, just go with the Premium blank package and swap out the Street pads for Posi-Quiet Ceramic pads.

If the calipers are shot on your car, Stoptech offers rebuilt calipers as well which is going to be a lot cheaper then purchasing a BBK or buying from the factory.

If you have any further questions feel free to PM me and I'd be happy to help you out.

I'm still trying to figure out if it's truly what I want/need. I'm going for more of the upgraded look, because I know I'd never track my car so no need for a performance upgrade. Starting to realize that's a lot of $$$ for something I don't "really" need.

It sounds like what you want is a "cool brake" look. There are brake caliper covers made just for that.

I think your right, but aren't caliper covers a bit tacky?

Maybe, maybe not. I don't know because I have never seen any covers in real life.

But if you want a realistic looks of 4+pot brake, I think you'd be happy with whatever cheapest (but not "Chinese") caliper out there and drilled rotor. Cuz drilling looks cooler.
