Fujita and floods don't mix!

I live in north Florida (Ocala) and we have been getting pounded by rain recently. I have a cold air intake and know how to drive with one (carefully avoiding large puddles). The problem is that I work in the middle of the forest down a 1/2 mile dirt road. The road has been flooding with the rain recently and I got stuck at work twice in the past week. The road will completely flood and get 6-10" deep at some places. I love the Fujita, but this is getting ridiculous! I might need to go back to stock intake. Obviously I still wouldn't go through if it was THAT deep, but wouldn't be as worried about a couple inches. Anyone else get hosed like this?

I think all of us that live in FL right now that have a CAI installed are feeling your pain. I haven't driven the TL as much because of all the rain we've been getting the last few weeks. Going back to the stock intake may be a good idea, at least for the next month or two.

6 - 10" is going to silt your brakes and other "bearinged" components and put water in other places you don't want it and may suffer for later on. So the intake is only 1 of the worries. You may pay or puddle hopping months/years down the road.

Guys, I did say I still wouldn't go through puddles that deep, but 2-3" should be ok...

anything bellow the bumper line is good to a certain extent... keep in mind if you drive through a puddle likelyhood of hydroplanning on stock tires is soooooo high I don't even want to see the outcome

Got tried by an E46 330ci yesterday, who obviously did not have an intake, or just didn't care, it was very hard to hold back, but yea Florida sucks right now if you have an intake. Its actually kind of embarrassing.

also it's been to cause major motor damage by the foam breaking and being sucked into the motor.

your best bet is to buy a short ram intake, and what you can do is put some flexable piping on the Filter and lead it down to the bumper area so its cooler air.

I'm confused! scratch: I don't see any replies referring to a bypass valve, so where did this come from???

I agree, maybe switching to a SRI with a good heatshield would be a good compromise for you.
