Front brake vent ducts mod
here are my functional "fog light" holes

The drivers side "hole" is an inlet for the air intake.
I dont have anything on the right side(passenger side)
I could make a duct to the brakes...but i dont see what the point is for.

That there is a happened on the street, during a skirmish chase through some twisties in the woods. The road had a lot of twists and approximately 8 tight turns at the end, so I had to brake from about 80mph down to about 30-40mph through each of the turns.
At the end of the run when I stopped, my brake fluid was nearly boiling, my rotors were glowing, and one of my brake pads caught on fire
lol Unless that ^^ happens often during your aggressive driving, I doubt you need brake ducts, but it is possible. I'm actually considering it tho, but dont want to get rid of the fogs. Maybe use the fake grill on the bumper..

If you haven't already, upgrade the pads and fluid first. Ducts are a good idea especially for higher speeds. Removing the dust shields reduced rotor temps a surprising amount. I live in So Cal so I don't have to worry about rain often. Even with rain there's no problems. I think those shields are there for extreme conditions, not the usual rain.
Just keep in mind the Brembo 12.2" rotors are not exactly large for a 3,500lb car with most of the weight on the front tires. I have 13" front rotors with good pads, fluid, and the shields removed and it's not super hard to fade them. Any help you can give them such as ducting will help. Another reason rotors with curved vanes are so nice. Not only do they pump air from the center and vent the outer diameter, when you run ducts to the center of the rotor, they pump the cool air through. If you plan to do lots of spirited runs, getting rid of as much weight ahead of time will help.
One last thing, your car should not be sitting still with the rotors glowing. A cool off lap should be done before coming to a complete stop.

Oh the rotors and pads weren't stockies. The setup was and is Racingbrake openslots(curved vane) and et-500 pads (and seeing them catch fire was priceless lol. My buddy's reaction was huh? wtf? that's like a chunk of metal on fire whats wrong with your car?), with castrol dot 3/4 synthetic fluid. (I ordered a bottle of castrol SRF high temp race fluid but too lazy to flush it out) and yes after I took the pic, I hopped in the car and went back up the road to let the rotors cool off.. The back ones were glowing along the edges too.(Also RB slotted)
Thanks for the info about the dust shields, I'll look into it. I had a chance to take it off when I was replacing the front lug studs, it looks superficial but I left it just in case.
BTW Racingbrake rotors are amazing, I've gotten them either smoking hot or glowing red on several occasions on the street, and when on the track and still not a shimmy in sight after all this abuse. The pads just tend to squeak like a biach every now and then during city driving but that's normal for these kind of pads(and yes I broke them in properly - no flaming necessary)
