FlashPro, Who has it and all thoughts?

There are a few FlashPro threads on here that have gone off topic. I hope this thread can be about who has it, and your thoughts about it. How has the FlashPro helped your car...HP/TQ, driveability, fuel economy, etc... What mods do you have and did you notice any difference after adding your FlashPro? Tuning experience good and bad...

So here is what I am working with. I have a 2007 TL-S Auto, and I bought my FlashPro on Friday. I was told that it will ship out on Monday. This week I will be adding my RV6 HFPC's/J-pipe combo and custom 2.5" exhaust(I hope). The only other mod that I have is a K&N panel filter with resonator removed. I will drive my car for a few days with this setup and then I am going to add the FlashPro. I will post all Hondata related updates here on this thread. I purchased the FlashPro as a package deal including etuning.

1) K&N panel fliter, resonator and tubing removed.
2) RV6 HFPC's (ceramic coated) and J-pipe being installed this week.
3) 2.5" custom exhaust should be going on this week if not next week.
4) Hondata FlashPro

I'll bite.

First - these are the mods I have that are engine/drivetrain related:
currently PCDs (HFPC's were on at the time of my dyno tune, though)
jpipe
atlp v2 quads
unorthodox UDP
aem v2 intake
3.7 manifold/TB (bored)
comptech short throw
slave cylinder check-valve delete

General thoughts - Flashpro is awesome. Best mod I've done for my car. Most people think my gains are worthless and make no difference, but they're stupid so I disregard most of it. Rev hang had always been an issue, and after 3.7 install there were some quirks with idle and tip-in. The car just overall ran rough. With the Flashpro, got 98% of that to go away.

Fuel economy hasn't changed for me. I still average 21-23 mpg.

Gains
I have a thread with my dyno chart but it is roughly 8 whp / 6 wtq at peak, and somewhere around 20 whp where vtec dip is eliminated. Power delivery smoothed on the chart all the way up the RPM band.

Performance
The car drives much better now. Tip-in is the only issue that remains, and MOST of that has been eliminated because Flashpro does come with facilities to tune that. Idle is perfect, powerband has smoothed out, the car sounds better, starts better in the cold, and shifts better with rev-hang being eliminated. It pulls harder than it did before, and it's winter here so I have 0 traction beyond half throttle. I am waiting for warm pavement and sticky tires to get the full effects of everything I've done. I can say, however, I've gone up against several cars on the freeway and pulling from 50 to 115 is smooth as butter.

Tuning
King Motorsports dyno tuned my car, and I've been data logging more for the past couple weeks to basically verify what they tuned. They are a premier shop so I trust them, but I like to see what's going on under the hood when I rip on the gas pedal. I paid $300 for my dyno tune and am very happy with it because under WOT my car runs better than ever now. I have 3 modes of driving: either i'm bumper-to-bumper in rush hour, cruising at highway speeds, or flooring it to pass someone. I don't do a lot of driving from one street light to the next where I care about a "daily driving" tune that you get from an etune. It's pretty much the last thing I'm concerned with.

What I would like to see from others
More modded TLs showing gains so that we can at least get a sense of what the "average" gain that should be expected is. Then it would be nice to see what a stock TL would gain from the flashpro. If a stock TL makes larger gains, then that will tell us something about how effective the ECU is at auto-adjusting to our cars as we mod them.

Thanks, "I Love Cars"

I will be posting as much as I can about the FlashPro soon.
Anyone who wants to ask anything about it just let us know. As you can see he had his tuned on a dyno and I will be using an etune. This should be a great chance to learn from each other.

There are a few FlashPro threads as I stated in my first post. Just trying to keep this clean....nice try

The reason I am going for the etune is the price of the FlashPro and tune together is too good to pass up.
I am sure that you will get more gains than just 5-10whp. That might be your peak gain, but you will see more gains between 2,000-6,000rpm, possibly 20+whp/tq in that area. The only way to tell will be a before and after dyno.

i'm buying the flashpro this week and an etune from Vit. I've been talking with him for a week or 2 and he's very responsive and loves what he does, along with having a great price point. If anyone wants to be the Acura TL guinea pig for e-tunez, they are willing to give a discount if you contact them (I am going with Vit instead, who was the first one to respond back to me and answered my questions)

Current related mods:
XLR8 Resonated Quads
XLR8 J-pipe (not the version removing the 3rd cat)
Comptech short shifter
Hybrid Racing shifter bushings

Mods happening before using Flashpro:
HFPCs (non-ceramic coated) - arrive Tuesday
Slave cylinder check valve delete (next weekend hopefully)

we'll see how it goes with a stock intake for the engine (my wife doesn't want me to get an intake cuz she thinks my car is already loud enough haha)

I went with Vit Myself. He was always quick to reply to all my questions. I read up on all the etunes that he has been doing for the 2012 Si people.
Too bad I can not be one of the people to do a before and after dyno of all the mods.
I did read something from Vit about an edyno.

Alright....here we go.... I have the K&N panel filter, RV6 HFPC's/J-pipe combo, and a custom 2.5" catback exhaust(with magnaflow resonator) to the stock mufflers. I started my Hondata e-tune today with Vit from vittuned.com. So far so good....I am already on my second map uploaded and my car is super smooth. I am so excited to get the next few maps loaded up. I am a slow learner when it comes to Hondata, but wow is it worth it...and this is just the start.
Car runs smooth and pulls hard....I will update on my next map that I get from Vit.

Tune the AFR for WOT between 13.1-13.5 see which range the car likes better.

I am getting an e-tune from Vit so everything is getting taken care of for me. I am sure that he is considering the best air/fuel ratio, if not I will pass this info on to him.

My first data logging consisted of 20 minutes of driving with NO, ZERO, NONE..... WOP. I was told to drive around as normal. I hit the highway, stop signs etc... My second part of data logging consisted of some normal driving with a 2nd gear WOP from 1,700-5,000RPM. I did this 3 time and drove around for about 10-15 minutes this time. So far so good, and my car drives and feels very smooth already. I am pumped for the next few e-tunes. For thos of you who dont know about e-tunes check this out here.... http://vittuned.com/

Another helpful hint.... Tuning at this time requires you to take your laptop with you in your car to record the data logging. The program for the TL is new so this is what we have to do. So far so good though, just be prepared to take your laptop with you when you are driving around. After you load your newest map, you will need to start your car, wait a few seconds and then press F9 on your computer to start recording data. No need to do anything when you shut your car off, just go indside and load it up/send it as a file.

so you aren't able to just take the FP in your car and hold the datalog button for a few seconds to start the recording? interesting that it wouldn't be able to do that, seems like it would be part of the general FP design regardless of the application. but i'll take your word for it...now i just gotta get past my "unrecognized calibration" error for locking my FP (need to talk to Hondata)...thanks for the info!

Great to hear you are moving along with your tune. I've heard on 8G Civic that Vit is the man with eTunes. I believe he has a virtual dyno as well, did you save any logs when you were stock or basemap? This would enable you to compare your before/after on the virtual dyno. Good luck with the rest of your tune!

i will be doing the e-dyno as a baseline (res. xlr8 quads, j-pipe), then another with HFPCs installed, and then one with all my mods and tuned by Vit. i don't think it costs very much and I will update here in a few weeks

it may not be true dyno numbers but will provide a relative perspective on the improvements

As far as the laptop in the car to data record....that is a yes....there are some bugs with the flashpro that need to be worked out. It will record but it needs to be hooked up to the laptop. Good luck and I will fill you guys in after the next update.

As of right now with the e-tune it looks like I am putting down about 255WHP. These are pretty weak numbers considering the modifications and how the car feels. I am thinking that a manual TL-S would put down close to 285WHP with the same mods. The car drives smooth and there is still a few more things that I might do, but I doubt that I will get over 260WHP. As of now my auto is making about 10% less WHP. It could be my TQ converter eating up the power but who knows.

What are your mods? Very dyno is different btw, so it's hard to compare numbers. How does the car feel?

Its not a true dyno, its an e-dyno. I just found out that everything effects it....bumps in the road, wind, slope, etc.... The dyno pulls are done on the street.
HFPC's/J-pipe, 2.5"cat back, with stock mufflers, and Flashpro of course.
The car drives very smooth and pulls awesome.

^ With an intake you will probably gain a solid 10whp after a tune, since you only have exhaust mods at this point.

Is there any way to save the E-tune and datalog the car with no tune at all? This way you would be able to see the gains from the Flashpro? (Obviously it won't be perfect, because as you said, it's very sensitive, probably to slope as well. But at least we can get an idea).

just as a heads up, not all ECUs from 2007-2008 can be used with the Flashpro right away. My ECU is unrecognized by my Flashpro so I can't even datalog yet, and Hondata told me they hope to have my ECU calibration code in the next release of their software which hopefully comes in a week or so.

? are you saying he'll gain 10 whp in addition to what he has already, if he buys an intake and tunes? I find that almost impossible to believe *unless* there's Pnp involved or a 3.7 mani and TB

seriously? lol I thought those issues all got resolved in January. Gerz and I couldn't tune initially because there were no base maps for 2007 type-s 6mt, but I thought autos were fixed as well.

hopefully after this round they will have a complete fix for the ECU's not being recognized.

So everyone knows..... there are still issues to work out with the FlashPro for the TL. I have to have my laptop in my car to datalog. The FlashPro will not datalog on its own like it will on other vehicles. I have to press F9 to start and stop the datalog while FlashPro is plugged into my OBD2 port and my laptop.

Precisely. He is getting all the air out, but isn't taking anymore in than stock. I think it's feasible to think he will put down an additional 10whp with a CAI and another tune.

Despite the fact that I have the 3.7 IM/TB and a 4" CAI, I gained 8-10whp/tq in the midrange just from the larger intake, with no tune. And those gains were over the AEM that was already installed. The stock intakes are pretty decent on these cars, but once you have full exhaust mods and no intake, a CAI should open up a good bit of power. I'm interested to see a before/after virtual dyno & tune of before/after CAI.

FlashPro, Who has it and all thoughts?-tl-s-auto-e-dyno.png

Lets see if this works......

3rd gear partial WOT, this was done while I was data-logging, and getting my Vit-tune.

Nice to see a chart, do you think if your actual AFR was closer to target you would get some more gains? In some areas it's off by 0.5.

263 whp peak is good for 5at and few bolt ons. 6spd bone stock type-s is around 245-255 and 6spd base is 220-230 ish. 5at base is like ~210 lol

that seems to be about right. There was a auto type-s a year ago maybe in a video against a stock type-s 6mt - the auto had full exhaust, a short ram intake, and JnR ecu tune and I recall him being at like 285 whp or something like that.

So about 264hp/266tq.....
RV6 HFPC's and J-pipe.
Hondata FlashPro from Vit and Vit-tuned
Custom 2.5" Exhaust into stock mufflers
K&N panel filter with resonator removed
It drives really smooth and Vit has done a great job tuning. We are still going to try a few more things.
