educate me on the TL's cats

I am coming from a G35 which only had 2 cats. No precats or secondary cats or fancy stuff like that. Replacing the cats was plain and simple for that car.

So, can someone fill me in on the cat setup for the TL? What do most people do when modyfing the cats for the TL? Thanks

A simple search will yield great results. As this topic has been beaten to death.
search for these terms:
Pre-cat deletes
j-pipe
3rd cat
exhaust
RV6 PCD
RV6 V3 J-pipe

there are 2 primary cats. then the third cat, then a resonator then 2 mufflers.

for the primarys you can get pre-cat deletes, or high flow cats.

for the third you can delete it or get a high flowing cat. deleting this does not throw a cel.

I have seen the pre-cats, but who's offering high flow cats for the primarys?

cool thanks for the info. Would buying a catback delete the third cat or not?

Won't let me edit my last post.

One more question as I am a little confused. So there are 2 precats before the primary cats? So you are saying that precat deletes takes care of the primary as well?

No they call them "ore cat deletes" but there just talking about the main 2 cats. there are only 3 cats. the first 2 and the third which is right behind the jpipe.

it goes "precats" (2cats) > Jpipe > 3rd cat> resonator>mid muff> mufflers

no catback doesnt delete the 3rd cat. just get a test pipe or straight pipe and delete the third cat.

Random Q, sorry - how does it feel to drive the TL in comparison to the G35?

Here. The engine has 2 cats leaving it (one in front, one in back), then the cats connect to the j-pipe, which connects to the 3rd cat, which connects to the cat-back which contains a resonator, mid muffler, and 2 mufflers at the end, going to each tip.

all dem posts and no pics...

those are the primary cats... the j-series after 03 for the honda and 04 for acura no longer came with headers... only a 4 bolt (turbo style flange at the head)... what this means is the cats essentially are downpipes

at one point in time "eshift performance" made hiflowing cats... no defunct... because the 'metal' cats deteriorated... I had them on my car

Cat deletes

and w/ supercharger installed

This helps a bunch...I've heard all the terms but didn't know what order it was all located in. Now all this makes sense for all the different stage exhausts also. Thanks.
