Custom Exhausts...anyone do this?

Not talking about systems from companies like Comptech, but custom exhaust done by your local shop with performance cats and mufflers. Let me know how it went and if you like/dislike and the costs.

The reason I ask is I want to do two things with this...upgrade the performance and sound of the TL, and get rid of the rotten egg smell my OEM cats produce. I dub this mission: "Operation Sounds, not Smells"

do a search....CA people wont be allowed to touch the cats. i dont rec. taking them out anyway, but if you plan on doing so I will give you 3 high flow cats for you oem ones. i used all magnaflow mufflers for my system and like it very much. cost isnt too bad at all.

in theory.. i think you should be fine in upgrading your cats or taking 2 of them out.. ... they're not gonna know till 5 years down the line anway.. and by then... you might have already sold the car or swapped back to stocks

I wouldn't dream of screwing with my TL's exhaust. I've had my fun messing with my Civic and taking the cat out. The only mod thats gonna happen to my TL is a drop-in K&N air filter.

What is wrong with your stock cats, they should not smell like anything.

I would do a custom exhaust but I want a stock exhaust to cut up and use as the donor. Holla if someone local wants $100 for their stock catback.

I had a custom SS Cat-back made, but left the CATs in place. The mufflers are comptech. Here's what it sounds like w/ CAI Video Clip of Custom Exhaust w/ AEM CAI
AND

Yeap...that's because they are Comptech mufflers w/ 2.5" piping all the way to the cat. However, I don't have a premuffler, just a 16" Magnaflow resonator.

We both have a custom exhaust, ACCURATEin has the comptech exhaust piping, with the HKS TI exhaust

Hey datplayaz...those links don't work for the video for me (I have tight security on my comp and don't want to mess with it)...you have any pics? I would love to see what the HKS looks like. I envision it must look bad ass.

Go to the "Photograph Gallery" link in the third Gen main page... then look for the topic "video of my tl" and "04 WDP on volks" we both have some pic of the HKS TI exhaust
