Computer Reset for CAI Install???
#3
For me, after I had my AEM intake installed, my dash had an emission check light on. So, I disconnected the battery for a while and then put it back on. The light was then off again.
Some have said that if you reset your computer this way it can also help your car re-adjust to your new setup... don't know how true it is but it can't hurt, right?

No check engine light problems after the installation.
Just inquiring if the battery needs to be disconnected to reset the computer. Not sure if it was done during the install since I paid the Acura tech $20 to install the CAI for me on his time.

So after you install the AEM (or w/e you have) you have to disconnect either batter wire for a lill bit, then reconnect it . turn on your car and your on your way? I dont understand how this resets your ECU

Hum......I didn't have to take the battery out with my install, nor did I unhook the battery. After the install I had the a check engine light flash on after I romped it coming out of my parking lot, but it went away after 10 seconds and has not come back. Did the ecu automatically update itself? Or does it still think I am running with the stock intake?

If you did not disconnect the battery during the installation, it will "likely" trigger a "CHECK ENGINE" light, but not 100%. In lemboski's case, the light did not stay on but to many it will. It's not a big deal to disconnect the battery prior to installation and reconnect them back after the installation, so why not do it to avoid headaches...

And upon reconnection of the battery (after AEM CAI is installed) you turn on your car and the ecu recognizes that there is a new intake? Im just not getting it. I dont understand the fact that your car is off your ecu is off there is no power to the ecu, then all of a sudden (as soon as you reconect the battery) the ecu resets the settings.
I will deff. do a search, and I do not mean to bash your information because I have very minimal experience with ECU's settings, resetting...etc.)

you know how when you plug your computer back in, after being uplugged, you can hear fans wind a little bit from recieving power? I believe having the battery connected keeps the power connected to the ECU, but just not powering it on. just thinking back to physics 2.
