Comptech has a pic on their website. Looks good - very clean OEM look. I bet it would look great in all black!

Do you mean the front wheels

Oh and I am not even going to think about buying one of these until I see a real world dyno.

WOO HOO! so now whos going to buy it.
It would be nice if someone would have it on for 6 months or so and give an extensive report on any issues that may or may not arrise and of couse dyno and track numbers, also what a supercharger does to a TL's gas mileage. All I can do is hope !

I am going to buy this on May 1st if this is really coming out at that time.. (I doubt it). CT has a tendency to make false promises w/ their release dates. I shouldn't say false promises... but false projections. I will do an extensive report and have tons of pics as I always do. I guarantee it.

I have 22,000 on my 5AT and I finally am convinced that Acura has resolved the tranny issue, once and for all. My '02 trannies (all three) never lasted more than 12,000 miles each. Therefore, making it to 22,000 w/ very aggressive driving has convinced me that my tranny in the '04 is not made out of glass anymore -- so the charger is coming for me as soon as CT releases it. And trust that it'll be $5000+ and you'll have buy a tranny cooler, fuel pump, and new battery .. so add a few extra hundred bucks.

I wonder if their going to come out with a Comptech Icebox as well to go with the supercharger. The current Type S Comptech Supercharger package includes an icebox since the supercharger is designed to accomodate it only. I may pick one up too......but that would mean taking away from my NSX fund. I let you be the "test dummy" Peter.....

I would think a new fuel pump and or regulator would have to be included in the kit. For the price I would hope the kit would be complete w/exception to a computer chip/upgrade. Out of curiosity, why do you say "new battery"?

I too will be interested to hear from those performing the mod, preferable the DIY guys. Like the above questions, just to see how complete the kit is and or any follow-up mods etc. required to obtain consistent, safe, and reliable performance.

If this news can be confirmed, it is indeed a good thing. Even though I have no plans to install this, having a supercharger that actually works and is available increases our car's profile somewhat, especially since there are traditionally few aftermarket parts for the TL. I hope that will be less true of the 3G TL than it was with the 2G.

New battery is a smaller size b/w the charger takes up a little too much space in the engine compartment. I think the only extra thing they ask that you consider is the tranny cooler, the charger kit comes w/ everything else.

In 2nd gen, I thought most tranny go back between 12000~45000miles. I think I would rather wait till 50,000miles before I put on the S/C or have some of you guys do a dummy-test :-p

hehe

if anyone has complained about torque steer this might not help by adding more torque to the front wheels.

theres a blue 350 and a red Z28 around the area. i have to get back at them.

comptech should be able to lend a hand.

...as for the 05 sti and 360 modena...theres simply no chance.

Everyone acts like peter is doing us a favor and going to 'take one for the team'. But those who are adventurous are prosperus, too. He'll have the fastest tl on this site, right? Anyone else think they will be able to hang with peter's supercharged TL? (damn, that has a ring to it-sounds so awesome!)
If so what other mods are you relying on?

although this would look kind of weird on the TL, wont putting wider tires on the front help with s/c induced torque steer? thats what pontiac did with one of their new models, i cant remember which one but remember reading about it, though it did not say whether or not that was an effective step or not.

Don't forget there are supercharged TL Type S around here....they have the added benifit of Comptech Headers (ie. +20-30whp) which the 3rd gen does not unfortunately.

My fully modded TypeS ran a 14.5 consistently in the 1/4... stock was 15.3 .... I loved all my Comptech mods... I had headers/intake/exhaust/UR crank pulley ...

Can't wait to start modding again .. have had an itch for a while.

Yeah i'd imagine since they've been on the market longer, more aftermarket parts have been developed for 2nd gens. But does anyone without supercharger on their 3rd generation tl think they'll be able to hang with a supercharged one?
By the way, how fast are they getting 1\4miles with those tl-s ?

Last I saw on the CL-S board, a TL-S w/ charger and all the other comptech goodies ran a 13.9 w/ the high boost pulley. W/o the high boost pulley, he ran a 14.2. Problem was that there was tons of wheelspin up front, as you can imagine.

Not to slight what Peter is doing to his ride, cuz it will beat the pants off mine, but I would put $50 on allmotor_2000's Turbo CLS in a second. 3.5L with a phat Turbo.

PS: May 1 (if they make the date) will coincide nicely with the fact that RonDog says the 3G Body Kits will start shipping out in May as well. 3G TL w/ Inspyres, RonDog Body Kit, Comptech SC and one of the 3 CAIs......

You all have to remember too, that at the track w/ my '04 .. I ran a best of 15.3 @ 90mph ... pretty sucky. A charger will likely get me to 14.5-14.7 range, I'm not expecting better.

This supercharger is not going to produce a good bang for the buck in my opinion at $4500 - a supercharger on a motor of this displacement should produce at least 100whp and another 50 lb ft of tq. I will only go forced induction on my car if a good centrifigul supercharger comes out producing gains like the Vortech did on the 99-00 Civic Si = 120whp for $4500. I say be patient and see what comes out - another case and point - Comptech was the first company to come out with a race header for the RSX Type S and I along with so many others paid the crazy $1100 price for this piece which produced about 10hp max gain. Later DC Sports made one just as nice for $400 and it actually outgained the comptech header. Wait to see what other companies are planning before making your decision or as an impulse buyer you'll possibly regret it later

You think other companies are going to invest in making superchargers for the TL???

The comptech is a good supercharger. Add a HBP and you'll gain another 30-40whp putting you at the 100whp you want. And comptech is also quality, more so than a lot of other brands out there. Don't forget, I believe almost all of Comptechs stuff is CARB legal as well, kinda important if you live in Cali.
