Comptech Supercharger for 04TL

Hello All:

I saw a post a few days ago about Comptech going out of business. As some of you know, I have wanted to have their Supercharger installed on my 04TL. I called them this morning, they had no more in stock and they confirmed their going out of business.

They will be missed.

I was able to locate and purchase, what may be the last Comptech Supercharger for a (auto) 04TL on the planet. It ships today from San Diego.

Are they any Acura dealers in NorCal that will install this. I have checked Oakland and Sacramento, they both said they could no longer installed them.

Pleasanton wants 2x what SD has offered. It look like I will drive to SD next week for the install.

Any ideas?

Tim

Hi. So your going to have your supercharger installed in SD? If so I can save you money on install. C&C auto in the city of walnut in southern california has installed several of our comptech superchargers. Install will be alot cheaper.
pm for the info.

Hello All:

Comptech SC gets installed Monday in Escondido, CA at the Acura dealer. Then it's off to Hondata for a ECU flash upgrade.

I will get Dyno before and after the Flash to see the difference.

I will post the results.

Stay "tuned."

Tim,
talk to Hondata before you post dynos/info on this board.
As of right now I was told not to post info of what is going on.
I think dynos might be ok.

Hello List:

All I can say is WOW.. The Comptech SC is installed. I had it done at Acura of Escondido today, who has installed several within the past few years. They gave me a "loaner" at No-charge and they provide a one year warranty on parts and labor. This was the right thing to do.

While I was at the Dealership, one of their salesman called a friend/customer, who has an 05TL Auto to which he added a Comptech SC about 1 year ago. He came to the dealership and let me drive his car and for the first time I heard the SOUND...

It's like a Jet engine when the SC kicks in.

I had a TRD Super Charger installed on a 1996 Avalon several years ago and it did not have this GREAT Sound...

Comptech Rocks..

I go to the Dyno place on Wednesday and I will report the numbers..

Stay "tuned"

Right on! Glad to see the install went swell and you're happy with the product.

I suppose Hondata is still working on the reflash which is good. Tell them we said thanks!

If you like the sound of the blower, you should consider customizing a cold air intake for the puppy. A lot of the guys have made their own and all have loved the results. It will amplify the whine by 200%.

Hello:

Does a different intake increase performance or just the sound?

I would be at a loss to make anything myself or even install it for that matter. I am more of a "White Shirt" guy. Plus, I am OLD...58 on the 19th of this month.

But I know several folks that are part of the Bay Area Group that may be able to assist.

Thanks,

Tim

i dont think that they make an after market intake manifolds for our TLs. extrude honing is the next best thing.

ohhh you meant the air intake.
yes a Cold Air Intake [CAI] will net hp but be careful as the dealer does not like these AND if you go over a large puddle you can hydro lock the engine.

do you have a digital video camera?

that is awesome that the dealership is giving you a warranty on the install...just curious how much did they charge you?

Hello:

If you can provide info on the "intake upgrade" that would be great.

Hello:

I called Comptech before I ordered the SC and I was told "business was not doing well." The guy from Comptech told me "folks just don't want to pay the price for their stuff."

The dealer in SD told me he thought he was a "political" thing. Either reason or others, their gone.

As far parts, since Comptech did not make any of their stuff, they were all outsourced, parts are available.

Add to this, that their stuff has always been solid, I'm not worried.

Shawn Church from Church Automotive Tuning said it was the "strongest engine" he has ever seen on this type of car.

I just got lucky... And I'm OK with luck.

Hello:

Yes this is standard boost. I think 4 lbs.

I will order the high boost pulley on Friday, just in case Hondata updates their re-flash program to except 91oct gas.

I can not see myself looking for 100oct fuel..

Those usually read a little higher than a dynojet. Still nice numbers though.
