It's a Skunk2 10TH Anniversary knob 1995-2005, I bought this particular one cause my (new/old) TL is 05 and I thought that was a nice touch. Notice that the knob still comes with red painted digits but I cleared mine for a more subtle look.

Bought from Scott-former Acura of Escondido Ebay parts guy, he now work at a different dealer but still stock this for sale. He always had the best price for all the parts and still does. Just one example, he can get A-Spec suspension for $650 where other guys like Acura of Las Vegas want $800.

You do NOT have to replace the boot if you are changing the knob. Some guys simply have the boot "resting" against the underside of the knob, while others got the right adaptor ring and added that to the existing boot.
If you go with MOMO, you can buy a new Boot Collar ring that attaches to the boot and then screws into the new MOMO knob.

when i took my TL to my local dealership awhile ago inquiring them about the 3rd gear TSB, they agreed to fix it, but i later got a call from the service rep. telling me that the technician noticed I had a SS installed in my car and he suggested that I took that out first before they do the TSB to avoid any warranty issue. I thought to myself that he was trying to feed me some bullshit.
Well, i haven't taken my car back to get the problem fixed yet. I'm still deciding whether to just change to the GM synchromesh or have the dealer do the TSB for me. Either way, there is no way i'm taking my SS out just so they can do the TSB.

best thing to do is get the TSBs completed, then change over to the GM Synchromesh.
I had actually switched to the GM about two weeks prior, and had my SS still in place when I had both of my TSBs completed.
You should be good...
thanks jmbnova. my thoughts exactly. I felt he was full of shit also. The only reason why i haven't gone back was because my 3rd gear issue hasn't been too often. I only have a hard time shifting probably about once a month. The thought of the dealer taking apart my transmission scares me.
how long did it take for them to complete the 3rd gear TSB for you?

Gave me a new 09 TL as a loaner too. I told them I was a "potential buyer" of the 09 and wanted it to drive.
Wait, I need to change what I said above.
The TSBs that took a half day were the power steering and the wiper.
When I took my car in for the 3rd gear issue, the completely replaced the tranny (not sure of the fix for the TSB). It took them over a week, but part of that was because the first night it was there, someone at the dealership got into my car, stole the rims (RJ Inspyres) then dropped the car on top of two car batteries, which actually did nothing because when I got there, the car was sitting on the rotors.
I was pissed and it took them almost a week before they called and said that I had to bring them a spare set of rims & tires because they were not responsible!
Needless to say, that dealership will NEVER get me again.

Well after pulling my whole interior apart, I find someone has beat me to it! There was already one installed.. Crazy right? I was not happy.. LOL but putting it back is way quicker.. This can be done in about an hour with the right tools..

Sorry dude... but that is pretty damn funny....
isn't the comptech short shifter suppose to be the copper or brass? why is this one silver?

just wanted to thank everyone that contributed to this thread....I can't thank you enough for the satisfaction that I gained from doing this mod....if you have a 6mt and have not done this mod....DO NOT WAIT...this is by far the best mod that I get to enjoy every time I drive the car. In my opinion, the throw is shortend substantially more for gears 1, 3, and 5. I recently had the 3rd gear issued resolved at the dealer. Now I'm glad that I bought the 6mt. Yes...it made that much of difference for me.
One thing that I noticed on the install that could possibly debated or discussed is the shifter cable linkage piece held by the metal clip. since the short shifter attachment makes the line "not straight" because the shifter linkage point is lower than before. I thought that maybe i can dremel the yellowish shifter housing where the cable linkage is held by the metal clip to make the line little bit more "straight" Let me know what you guys think about this.

Save the $80 bucks and do it yourself. The CT instructions are pretty good on how to take it apart not to mention the support here in the forum. That's $80 you could put towards another mod or a weighted shift knob (a must with the short shifter)!
Just installed this last night and WOW! The guys are right, one of the best mods for the 6MT. Feels a little heavier to switch gears (which is good) and definitely feels more "intune" with the transmission. I can't believe how short it is lol anyways, you gotta do this! Don't wait
did mine today and the only thing that is a pain in the rear was pulling off all the trim and panels.
i thought i was going to break something. putting it back together took no time.
thanks for everyones input on this thread. the more info the better.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but seeing as how this one is constantly linked and referred to around the forum when it comes to a center console disassembly/assembly, I figured this would be the best place to post it.
Does anyone have copies of the pictures that went with this thread? For someone like me that doesn't mess with their car too much, pictures are pure gold. But the links are all dead because of inactivity...
Any help? The main thing I'm looking for is so I can confirm the location of the 8902192 screws I had to take out to remove my CD/radio when I replaced it yesterday, since I had quite a few left over after I was done. That can't be good....

Hm.. this is an extremely old thread but I was wondering if there was anyway you could reactivate your photobucket account jmbnova? I'd really appreciate it if I could see the pictures for my install this upcoming week. If anyone else had a link to another guide for the comptech ss that would be great as well.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Thanks.
I sent jmbnova a PM and asked him to log in to his photobucket account, which will bring the pictures back. If he's available then it could happen soon because all it takes is a log in.

For those of you that installed the bushings kit, did you purchase 2 kits? - Or will 1 kit be sufficient to replace the both locations of bushings. (Engine Bay, under Shiftbox Assembly)
Thank you
Also hoping jmbnova logs back into his account so the DIY pictures can be seen again. Would love to do this install via a helpful guide vs. Comptech instructions.
