if i remeber correctly, there was a CT exhaust for sale a while back with the mid muffler replaced by a aftermarket resonator of some sort. do some searching on the blackmarket you may find it/ the owner.

But i'm pretty sure most people that spend $1000 on an exhaust ususally dont go hackin and chopping it.

hmmmm i wouldnt do it. i actually had to install a 21 resonator on my comptech exhaust, along with the mid-muffler to quiet it down a bit.

if your looking to make it sound louder, than the PCD's will do the trick

One of the vendors made a very similar exhaust to the comptech but it did not have the mid muffler.

^just sound... I like the way it sounds now but it would b better if it was alil louder and really I was just curious how it sounded with it removed so I wanted to see if anyone did it to theirs already. Cause like you said im in no hurry to go and cut up a perfectly good exhaust and i think Ill pass on the PCD, I no they give you some nice gains but I have the type s cats so its an improvement over stock and i dont have to worry about CEL's or ne thing like that

Well I still have NOT done this yet. I am waiting to hear from comptech as to what this will roughly sound like. I think it will make it a tad bit louder, but could be way more louder, I dunno?

someone on this site must have experience taking a mid muffler off a aftermarket exhaust....I need some help guys!

04accordcpe did you have an aftermarket J-pipe before you added on a resonator?

I had the Comptech Exhaust with an Aero Resonator. The sound was just perfect. You can ask RonJonTL57 if it is loud enough or to post a sound clip as I sold it too him.

I tried to contact RonJonTL57.It says they no longer exist...why did you put a different resonator on it as opposed to just straight piping it?

Made the noise deeper and more subtle. No drone or rasp. I wasn't the original one that put it in there. That exhaust has been bought and sold like crack and cocaine.

I got it from TylerT which sold his car, and which he bought it from someone else. But TylerT is the one who put the Aero Resonator in.

ok, well the question still remains. What would removing the mid muffler on the comptech exhaust and putting a straight pipe do and sound like?

Not many people know the sound of the Comptech Exhaust with a straight pipe.

All I know is that the Aero Resonator made the sound more throatier and a little louder, but made the drone to 0.
