Changed my air filter to K&N...all by myself!
#41
I was about to say why settle for an E class when there's the CL. I had just gotten approved for the loan two months ago for a CL65 Brabus when the friend I was buying it off of totaled it. It's amazing how cheap you can find those cars after a few years. I was going to pay $32,000 for a 704hp twin turbo V12 CL65 with 60,000 miles and a warranty past 100,000 miles.

Ok so what's wrong with quoting the pictures?? I mean 'these' pictures? Maybe someone indulged in looking at them again - to confirm the brand on that air filter.
Ok back to topic,
Label Snob, do you mind putting up a DIY with picture for us?
(guys, if this works as I planned, you will owe me big time)

get real. c'mon guys. let's keep the leg humping to a minimum?
Props to you OP- my wife wont come near the car (other than to sit in it) much less the engine bay.

So much for little humor.
I think we all attained the moral of thread. The OP changed an air filter. Doubt we can derive anymore wisdom out of it so might as well close this puppy.

WRX- I would not own one of those without a good warranty. This friend of mine has owned 5 of them in as many years and each one has had major front suspension problems, auto closing doors and trunk not working, and active suspension failing. That gets embarassing because the car floats and leans worse than an old Cadillac when it goes out. The front suspension alone would have been close to $14,000.
As far as basic maintenence, not too bad. I do the brakes on them for about $250 if rotors are not needed. You can get 24mpg on the freeway if you drive nice. I can't remember how much oil it holds but it's a lot. My particular friend puts the cheapest stuff he can find at the time. My ex also drives one and it has pretty much the exact same problems.
They are a pleasure to drive. There's power from idle to redline on the V12. You would not know it's turbocharged just from driving it. Full boost comes in at 1,200rpm. No road noise, no wind noise, just silence going down the freeway. The ride is absolutely amazing, you can see other cars bouncing over bad freeway sections and you can barely tell you're on bad pavement. Pretty much no body roll when the ABS is functioning correctly. Steering is precise and actually gives a little feedback. There's no indication of the car's 5,200lbs unless you put it in dyno mode. Once it starts sliding, it goes and goes and goes. You want to have a lot of pavement if you plan on going sideways.
The stock audio is good enough. Mids and highs are better whan some mid price aftermarket stuff and it has a factory 12" sub that's ok. The only thing we've ever upgraded was the sub and amp.
There are little things that make it so nice. You can raise the front end up for ground clearance at the touch of a button. The doors are double hinged so they require much less room to fully open which helps in tight spaces. The side view mirrors fold in as you're parking. And about a million other small features. It's just one of the best driving cars I've ever had the pleasure to drive. It's so refined but packs 704hp and I *think* close to 1,000lbs of torque. Now it's not quick like you would imagine a 700hp car because it's so heavy. The GN spanks it badly but if I had to guess I would say it would go deep in the 12s and probably 120-ish traps on street tires. It's so hard to guess because it's quiet and doesn't transfer weight like most cars.

Dang 120ish traps would translate to 11s if you could get some sticky tires and some seat time in. Sounds like an awesome tourer...other than the possibility of massive expensive failures haha

Hey girl, Good Job!
Kind of funny you posted this just a couple days ago, I'm another "hands on" woman with my TL and just ordered a new K&N filter this afternoon. I plan on putting it in myself when it arrives this weekend; thanks for the tutorial!
Found this upon searching and it helps!

d0rks lol,
The whole response was for TLMunchkin37 and was supposed to be interpreted as:
While Lable is putting together the DIY with her [best friend], then invitation..
Get you heads out of uum the engine bay and breath some air
Now if you actually did get it the first time but still made me type this up then +1! lol
Edit: ^ Majofo, you are just EVIL lol

ya think? i'm gonna take a guess here and say that the leg humpers out there...do you guys even have GFs? i mean really, do you really think you're gonna get a respectable girl if you keep throwing the leg humping out there?? its not very flattering nor classy. i know its all fun and games (i hope), but there are certainly better ways to express your...attraction to a girl that is into cars.

Most of active members here are either married, or are in long term committed relationships. For the most part, the active members who have been here for a while are very respectable guys. The leg humping is just our standard greeting to new ladies on Acurazine. If you take us serious, this isn't the place for you. If you insult us.. you're in the right place.
On a serious note, Acurazine is a great community and anything that would generally cross the line in the workplace is not tolerated here.
