CAI plus Stage 3 Qs..

What's up all!? I just signed in as an official member. I picked up '07 Type-S a few weeks ago. First of all, what a car! I was sold after driving a few.

So I've been reading and reading - and learning a ton. There's a ton of great info on here. And yes, I know how and have done a ton of searching

My initial plans are to tint and I'm pretty sure I'll go Stage 3 on the exhaust. I'm just curious what the Stage 3 would sound like along with a CAI? I haven't been able to find a discussion about having both and I'm curious what the overall sound of the car is like. I'm trying to decide which to do first. I'll probably do the exhaust first since it's cheaper and easier but I'd like to hear it (if possible) first. Maybe someone can provide a link or at least some insight??

Thanks - and it's good to be here!

Just realized the last part of that sounded dumb and prob confusing.. I've read about, listened and are familiar with the different exhaust options alone - I'm curious what difference in (say) a Stage 3 alone sounds like vs. a Stage 3 combined with a CAI? I'm guessing the CAI just gives it a little more 'growl' up front when getting on it? What do you here more inside and outside the car? Just curious. Any clips?

PERFECT!

That sounds pretty badass! I'll probably start with the mid muffler delete/Dynomax Res.

Thanks!

Idk, I would go stage 4 and just make it all straight...no mid muffler or resonator, then get the AEM V2 CAI.

True - I could go Stage 4 first instead of spending the money on a resonator. Then if I don't like it I could always add one later. From what I've been reading the Stage 4 is really raspy though. I'll have to listen to a few Stage 4 clips first - at lunch. A little hard to act like I'm working and listen to loud exhaust clips!

I would really love to know, what's stage 1, stage 2, stage 3, stage 4, and so on...
how did someone come up with labeling different exhaust mods and applying a stage to each one... so what does actually stage 1 mean? and what does stage 4 mean?
how does anyone ever know what exactly you mean by "stage 3"?
im dying to know what stage mine is..

changing your muffler tips couldn't possibly be stage 0.5, would it?

If you look around or search... everything has been covered
stage 1 - mid-muffler delete
stage 2 - mid-muffler delete & magnaflow resonator
stage 3 - mid-muffler delete & Dyno max resonator
stage 4 - mid-muffler & resonator delete

you're kidding me, right?
so who was the one that gave such labels to a dynomax and magnaflow resonators...and not a tubi resonator?

so in other words none of this is anything official...

so i must have a stage 15 exhaust then

the stages were made up of the most popular resonator choices. a lot of people have also used the AR25 resonator. stage 3 is a very loose term so pretty much any resonator besides magnaflow will probably fall within stage 3. whoever came up with the names just wanted it to sound cooler than it really is, and i guess it stuck on this forum at least
