Best first mods for Type S?

hello. just bought an 07 type s. was wondering what mods are suggested for this car. ive owned turbo cars in the past but when it comes to an NA v6 im lost. is the J-pipe a good mod? any power increase with stock cat and muflers, or is it just a sound thing? any other suggestions besides that?? thanks!

the jpipe would be the 2nd best bang for the buck, with no side effects, ie: rasp, or catless smell.

the first best bang would be Pre-cat deletes. but with those you get a fuel smell and rasp.
but rasp can be dealt with by adding a resonator.

What's the budget? Do you want mods that are relatively inexpensive?
I'm more of a cosmetic kind of guy, so I'm going to suggest ZKW-r clear lens change for the headlights. I have a thing for headlight lol.
The Jpipe is a great buy! If you look through some of the threads you'll find Dyno sheets I believe, look for Richies RV6 V3 Jpipe. Happy Modding.

Congrats on the TL-S. Tint is a great first mod. Check out the 3G garage for tons of info. Also register your TL at www.myacura.com in the USA or https://www.myacura.acura.ca/myAcura...ToLoginPage.do in Canada. Save your Navi and Radio codes there.

Try that out for performance. Lots of good stuff there (some of what justnspace mentioned)

Another good site is http://www.heeltoeauto.com/home.php?cat=95. They have a few more things outside of the exhaust system. I just bought my 07 TL-S as well and have been doing quite a bit of looking around. If anyone else knows some sites please feel free to add.

Definitely tints first, then do the performance stuff. If you're looking for another aesthetic mod, the Aspec Kit is worth considering....

I got my TLS in January and heres what I did first:

Tint
Injen Cold Air Intake (sounds sooo sick)
Stage 3 exhaust (muffler delete, cut out stock resonator and added a Dynomax resonator) This sounds really really good, and isnt obnoxious at all.
Yellow Fog Lights

I just ordered my RV6-V3 J-pipe for some more power

Thinking about getting pre-cat deletes from RV6 to unleash some real power.

What HID Fog light kit did you order? I am thinking about doing the same thing to mine, but havent found a kit that other members have used. Let me know!

I also got my 07 TL-S 6mt in January. What I did so far, in order:
WeatherTech floor liners (lots of snow in Idaho)
GM Synchromesh Trans Fluid
Formula One Pinnacle Tint
New 800cca battery (old one was weak)
15 LED Panel interior and trunk lights
iSimple (worthless without lots of playlists. I've got 65gb of music)
RV6 j-pipe (love it!!!)
Splash Guards
Trailer hitch to hual my 4x8 aluminum utility trailer
JLC hi-power LED reverse lights (I still wanna upgrade to HID though)
Update to 2011 Nav DVD (complete waste of money, I still use my Garmin for trips)
Voodoo Titanium countersunk shift knob (LOVE IT, but boy was it expensive!!!!)
Good luck with your new baby!

I forgot to mention that RV6 is coming out with high flow cats.
all the benefits of Pre-cat-deletes but without the smell or rasp.

Congrats on your TL-S! My first mod was also to tint the windows.

I just upgraded the OEM tires to the Michilen Sport A/S Plus, and let me tell you, they made the car handle much better. The body roll is much less and feels more tighter, but they were very $$. I got the 245-45-17 so they look aggressive and fill a little of the wheel gap.

i had an aem cai on my 08 base for the longest. made a lil difference, pulled on my buddy who was stock on same care. but when i started running royal purple oil i pulled harder on my friend and highway driving was a lot more fun. the royal purple seemed to be like glucosamine for the engine, it started smoother ran smoother and accelerated faster.

I have the JL lighting reverse lights. They are very bright but they are spot lights, not floods. You can see very well DIRECTLY behind you but not much at all to either side. HID's are amazing but the JL's are a nice plug'n play sulotion.

What kind of HP increases are we talking about with the J-pipe?

IMO, no TL is complete without the OEM/Aspec kit. I started there and just ordered the RV6 V3 Jpipe.

I'd also recommend changing all fluids irrespective of the previous owner's maintentance habits. Hit up the 3G garage and read around for further information on tranny, brake, and oil fluids.

Congrats on the purchase bro!

That was the 1st thing I did. Used the GM fluid and fixed my clutch problem. Didn't stop there, engine oil + filter, power steering, brake line flush, radiator flush, new LED's, new HID's, reverse lights, removed airbag stickers, floor mats, Type-S fender badges, "ACURA" from bumper decals, Accessory wheels, sub + amp isimple Gateway (don’t waste your money...POS) and the most important: Comprehensive auto insurance to cover it all, unlike on my last TL.

Diy cai?

My first mod was tint, then a 3rd brake light decal (Acura). Now I would like to install a CAI. I have a friend who is an airplane mechanic and said he built one himself. Is this a good idea or should we just stick with what the pros give us? What is the best option available right now? 06 TL 3.2L
