Before I spend on this...

ok so i have been going back and forth about this and i am like 80% sure i will do this.

I am going to get rv6 v3 jpipe and hfpc for my base tl. hopefully i can also get the rv6 v2 true dual exhaust i am guessing it will cost me around 3000 dolores or so, not sure how much installation would cost yet.

question though anyone know if richies hfpc is llegal in california? main reason holding me back from buying it.

ok so this thread is for those who have boughten all this is it really worth it all? I really wanna do this to make my exhaust sound better.

i just bought type-s kit for my base tl new fogs, new intake. got rims powder coated i have already put in to much money to my car to upgrade to a type-s so i am sticking with my base tl. plus i love my tl, its my first car all paid on my own!

If i don't do these mods now i probably will never do this cause ill get older and have more bills and have to pay more for school so if anything i will buy hfpc and jpipe within a week.

alright well made a thread about what to get awhile ago before i pull the trigger on all this, is getting all this from rv6 the way to go or should i get a different part from someone else. i mean i would rather just get all from one person plus that combo deal for rv6 hfpc and jpipe is on and i would wanna do that. plus i like how rv6 exhaust parts sound.

one other thing i heard about i think xcelerate(dont think i spelled that right or even if hes the one making a new one)is making a new jpipe. what i dont want is like rv6 making new jpipe soon? or any othe jpipe worth waiting for?

uhhh for proven gains and sound i would go with rv6. he has dynos and he has clips. you might be going through a lot of magnaflows to get the sound you want.. or you can be like me and have no mufflers

Thing with them is they do horrible wiring i have friends saying they did stuff there, they're cool and all but they also got they're wiring done bad. just i hear its a hassle with getting a good hu for tl.is it difficult?

Tail lights i have seen actls work and i like some of his costum tail lights so probaby gonna pm him when i get around to doing that.

And the j-pipe is absolutely illegal. You're removing an OEM cat.

Any j-pipe that removes the 3rd cat isn't legal anywhere, removing a cat is a federal offense so it's illegal to do in all 50 states. However not legal doesn't mean you won't pass smog just as long as they don't visually look for it.

Think of it like this in terms of power to weight/power ratio. I came from a heavy 2006 civic SI in terms of power and with the car weighing in at 2,877 (exlcudin my lbs) and the whp only at 177whp stock, it was getting 16.25 power/weight ratio. Looking at the TL, my 6spd 05 weighs in at 3,482 with 228-232 whp getting 15.00-15.20 power/weight ratio. Now, that's damn good for a sedan. With mods hp level of 270whp... you're getting near an EVO VIII power/weight ratio! Now think to yourself if you think it's worth it. As for me, all motor performance parts will help. For an SI to go all motor in that heavy fat body.. no-no! That won't even be worth it to me as you spend more parts to get faster. But you get my saying, now it's your decision.

Why do you need a new headunit? There's no reason at all to change the stock one out unless you're upgrading to SatNav.

Osak so my car speakers like go in and out on sound so somimes the right side won't be working or just back ones work.

Well I went to check my speakers and the people told me I have to change hu to an aftermarket cause it doesn't support the 2 amps the new car speakers and subs and a new hu would do the trick that's what one place told me.

Another place told me where I have gotten all my speakers and wiring done said I don't need it but if I want I can do it. I'm thinking the guys where I got wiring done just didn't connect speakers right. What you guys think it is cause I really wouldn't want to change hu but if speakers won't sound good wit stock hu then I'm willing to change it. What I do to get them all working I put sound on that one speaker and raise vlume that turns them all on....for awhile.

Ya I was mainly just concerned with smog but you say it will pass if they don't look for it. That kinda concerns I want my car llegal but I want all of this badly. With the rv6 true dual exhaust isn't. Doing that illegal, with the whole catback and all.

Sorry for grammar at work and have a bad phone for texting.

177 whp out of an engine that's rated at 197 bhp is still seriously stout. Must be underrated at 197, cause that's only like a 10% parasitic loss.

Isnt FWD the one that looses the least power, compared to RWD and AWD? because if thats the case, then 10% seems reasonable in terms parasitic loss.

the high flow cat is probaly a considerable option because it reduces the smell of unburned fuel and it doesnt give off a tin can rattle on accel. (rasp). anyway i suggest you go with the hfc if you please. here are some picture of my hfpc in my work box.

these cats are exact as to the berk technogly units. EXACT cores. very pleased results with these cats maxing out at 6hp and 12lbs of tq on a civic si. I wonder what it'll do on Acura V6's.

the cores are stainless 200 cells. i guess theyre made by magnaflow. GOOD LUCK.

Op how did your quest for go fast parts go?

so richie told me i wouldn't get the true dual exhaust until a month or two so i decided to think a little harder on these mods. Its cool that it will probably pass smog but hate that its still illegal.

I had thought the j-pipe mode was atleast llegal so i was gonna buy it but thats not llegal either (correct me if i am wrong).

Going to wait till i get my exhaust see how it sounds then figure out what to do, but for now gonna buy furniture for my home.

Would love to buy it already but the whole thing that its illegal with the law kinda ruins it for me but ill update this thread with what i do in the end.

i still have question about other things you guys can help me out with like coilovers, my stereo system, wheels, lights and many other things ill use search button for what is able to be found, so ill keep you guys busy thanks for the help you guys appreciate it a lot.

with your exhaust modifications intent, yes it is illegal but only if you get caught in the act. if sound is your thing i suggest you ask another member because i hate a fart cannon sound. for spring suspension i highly recoomend the aspec sport suspension because it is fine tuned for daily driven sedans and it grip corners very good. very harsh ride at times but tolerable. you cannot modify your stero head unit but you can on the speakers. i like the type s waffle because it is very very lightweight and it screams acura-euro-ish. i would keep the lights o.e. 1st mod i reccomend you do is go with aspec sport suspension and move gradually from there. no rush.

ok so i guess ill start asking my questions now.

first issue so i have the 04 base tl with type-s aspec. Before i even got kit i had 19" rims they would grind but only with 5 people in car. Now that i have the kit the wheel base became smaller so now it grinds by myself only a little but the most people i drive with is 3 and that many people grinds on the tires a lot.

i have type-s suspension on my car but what i want to know how to fix the grinding?

would folding the fenders be the best, cheapest and easiest way to fix this. i just got the kit and friends say it wouldn't be worth it to fold new bumpers to just new rims but i like my rims so really don't wanna do it that way. i mean i would rather fold them than buy new rims or buy coilovers.

would coilovers do a better job at this i now they're expensive but still cheaper than new rims. how does folding the fenders work does it cost much and will bumpers and everything still look the same if i take to a good shop?

Yep, FWD is the path of least resistance, but 10% isn't realistic. It's usually closer to 15% on a FWD MT car. A base TL 6MT makes ~ 220 SAE on a 258 rating. I did a little searching and it seems most SI's make that kind of power, so I'd bet they're making closer to 205 at the crank.

24 lbs is far from very, very light weight for a 17x8 wheel. It's actually pretty porky, but then that's the nature of cast aluminum.

i mean i love the tl cause its a sick sedan if i was only going to be able to take 1 other person in my car(is when it really starts to rub another person consistently rubbing) i would of have gotten a 350z but i like tl a lot more.

Just realized i said fold the fending when its roll the fenders always saying it the wrong way. i just got tires around december so i probably wouldn't get new ones for awhile or i could just get new ones and sell the tires i have but i doubt the tires would completely get rid of rubbing would they? still open to rolling the fenders though.
