ATLP J-Pipe: Tell me what you guys want! Remake

I've been wanting to do this part for such a long time but didn't want to duplicate something that "lookinco" already had. (which I sold to him )

Anyway, here is what I had in mind.

Of course it will be made by the same manufacturer that made the ATLP exhaust system possible. Stromung Exhaust Engineering. They have been in the industry for decades, focusing most their products on European cars, and turbo cars as well.

The whole unit will be mandrel bent, no crush bends!
Stainless steel all the way.
Beefy flanges.
2.25 inch inlets, and 2.5inch outlet.
Flex pipe.
TIG welded!

What I need to know is...

Keep or delete 3rd cat?

By deleting the 3rd cat, we will be able to run a bit longer "secondaries" and most likely get a bit more power mid-range.

Let's see some feedback!

Or, we can keep the 3rd cat, but put a much higher flowing cat in there. I can have it made in a way where we can still keep the stock heat shield as well, so that it should have no problem passing visual.

I'm sure I can make it to where it will add a few horses. MY main concern is getting that low-end and mid range bumped up. Vtec already takes care of the top end.

If the J-pipe comes out as good as the exhaust did...i'm down!! Count me in as it seems that Lookinco won't be getting any business from me.

Once you complete this project, maybe you can sell the J-pipe and the exhausts as a package...maybe?

It will be geared towards the N/A crowd, and I'll work around designing it for N/A based gains.

so aznbo, is it worth it to get the atlp exhausts now and then the J-pipe? will it be a better deal if i just wait to get the package? also, how much will the J-pipe cost by its self?

If you buy the exhaust now, or later won't make a difference. I'll still credit you for a "discount".

Thanks, I'll do that once I get a bit more details on the cost and features of the j-pipe.

i say high flow all the way...as long as its carb compliant what are the cons to it? nothing...only power and torque..to me the car has pleanty of power down low..the top end power is what needs the gain..the car stays in vtec if you are shifting properly so when else would you need down low torque?

to get you to those high points quicker..

my 60 year old mother just bought herself a CLK550, and the torque on that thing is 391tq and 386hp. now granted, my acura drives so much better and gets to 60 in about 6.0, well the benz is 5.0.. but man, you hit the throttle of a torque'y car, that fucking this going 50mph before the nerves in your foot can actually feel the pedal pressed against it.. thats just my ...its mainly for throttle response.. how much "push" does the car have. hondas PULL their weight, not enough push

i've driven lots of cars, some nice and some crap. hondas LACK TORQUE. always have, always will.. some people have turbo acura CL's putting down 350+ whp, but only 250tq... thats why these cars will never get into the 12's

I would love to have the best of both.

Honestly though, it really depends on where you are coming from, which is why I put up the poll. There are the few who drag, and need the most power on wide open throttle. And then there are those who just want a stronger mid range for around town driving and passing people on the highway going 50 when you drop it in 3rd...

and then there are those who could care less.

Looks like the 3rd cat delete is currently in the lead. In my opinion, that's the best way to go! You can always swap the j-pipe when emission time comes.
