chec any sensors that may have been connected to the intake...if one of them is unplugged...you'll throw it off

time - go back over each and every single step of the instructions and make sure you screwed everything down, connected everything including sensors and harnesses everywhere correctly, and put it all back together right.

the good thing is that the cai install is not that complicated so you can probably figure it out fairly quickly.

eh, did you actually take the car for a spin, or did you leave it in N or P and rev the engine? If it's the latter, and you have an AT, that's just the way it is.

Exactly, there is a rev limiter set at 5 000 RPM when left in neutral or park.

Yep, I was worried at first as well, but then I actually drove around and it is fine.

LOL. That's what I was going to say. I believe the M/T is the same.

I didn't know that...

I know its not an issue but it kinda bothers me when people rev their car until it hits the limiter...

I agree that it is annoying when poeple revs their engines to death in park. However, our engine is so smooth and quite, I can see that you could do it once or so without realizing it. After I had my UR Pulley installed, I pulled into my driveway at home and just hit the throttle lightly to see how quick the engine rev'ed with the new lightweight pulley. Before I had time to react, the tach is jumping to 4500 rpm. I just said "wow" and smiled as I shut it off.

Has anyone heard a popping noise coming from their AEM CAI? Mine has done it 3 times now, the last happened when I went from half throttle to full throttle. The car downshifted and I heard the pop from the front as it started accelerating. The other 2 times were when throttle was mashed on from a dead stop.

I used to get that from time to time before I got the procats on...then it seemed to all but disappear. Sounded like a backfire in the intake tube or something...if you can imagine that sound.

I think the pop sound is the sound of the butterfly (throttle plate) slamming open or slamming closed. The CAI is somewhat like a megaphone that amplifies sound. Plus, the low restriction filter does not muffle sounds either. So, you are now hearing the DBW (drive by wire) throttle slamming open and closed. I hear mine often during WOT shifts where the computer slams the throttle closed during the actual shift. It scared me that first few times I heard it. I quickly figured out what was happening although... I do WOT often.

Hey guys I've been gone for some time; thanks for all the help. Shortly after I posted my problem I decided to give it a test run and it ran perfectly fine. I did not know about the rev limiter. Thanks for the help everybody.

For the record, I am undecided between it being a MILD backfire or the butterfly slamming closed. However, I still feel that it is normal for TL folks with CAI and most likely it is harmless.

Does you car still do this? I just installed the AEM V2 on my 06 TL and I get this weird puff sound when I turn my car off. Is there a fix?
