So after 2 years of researching and finding the right shop in Kansas to do my exhaust I finally got it done....

It did end up costing me quite a chunk of $$$ but the craftsmanship is unbelievable.....its amazing....

Initial (cold start) impressions:

ohh its loud....its a tad bit louder than the exhaust out there....has a very exotic tone at certain rpm's and does have its share of rasp and drone....

The upsides: Car is so much quicker thro the rpms....its not even funny....
The Down: Since this job was done in a hurry (gotta leave for Austin in the next few minutes here) he could align the tips too well....so the tips are not really filling up the type-S rear lip i got....When I get back this sunday, will take it back to him and get it straightened out....

Video's....in due time....

I wanted to leave the design to myself, but I have learned so much from this forum, it can only help by giving something back....

its a 2.25" True dual....T304 SS tubing....Mandrel Bents...It does NOT have a H pipe....I picked up a Magnaflow muffler 2.25 x 2 in/out which has a true perforated X core which am using to shut the rasp and as a merge.....

Tips are from Jones Exhaust
Mufflers are 2 x 12215
Muffler/Resonator/Xpipe is 11385

I need some opinions from people here:

1> Pros/Cons of the primary pipes not being of equal length
2> Any way in this other than welding 2 resonators to shut the drone up and make it a little quieter (still debating as I know once the carbon builds up the exhaust will quite down a little)...

On to the pix....Vids after Sunday

looks great. craftmanship looks awesome. i would stagger a couple small resonators after the initial muffler up front. would probably 'tune' the sound a little more.

WOW Swoosh. That looks great! It really looks like all the waiting paid off for sure! (No pun intended )

The quality looks amazing as you said, the welds look great, and nice choice on the X pipe chamber

I do have 1 question. How come you went with a 2.25" in and 2" out?

You may be able to go with a Magnaflow 11378 to help get rid of some of the drone/rasp, but I'm not sure how far each pipe is from each other. You would have to see and then call Magnaflow to ask if it'd fit. I'm not sure if a 4in round resonator would be able to fit 'between the pipes' if you know what I mean. Maybe if you got 2 really small ones (12-14in or so) you'd be able to fit one after the other (on opposite sides), but they may come VERY close to each other.

as air travels down the exhaust it loses heat, which i turn creates denser air. velocity is important, so you drop down the exhaust gradually to keep the velocity uniform, which in turn keeps back pressure uniform. that's why you see the huge turbo cars with heat wrapping. too keep the temps inside the exhaust where they are beneficial, instead of detrimental like it would in the engine bay/atmosphere

usually the drop down is within the downpipe/jpipe/whatever they call it on different vehicles, and you never actually see it.

^ I disagree. It's said that anything after the header collector is a restriction. Most high performance header primaries are "stepped," starting smaller near the head and gradually tapering to larger; then at the collector, necking down small and tapering to a larger diameter (at a larger angle/shorter distance than the primaries). Open collector makes the most power, leaving nothing no speculation as to whether or not everything downstream from the collector is a restriction.

However, I do agree with you that velocity is extremely important when talking about exhaust flow. It's difficult to find the correct velocity/volume combination, but when you do, a lot of power can be made.

I honestly don't think it would've made a big difference whether he went with 2 or 2.25, slight if anything. I was just wondering why.

manifolds are so extremely different and temperamental. i avoid making any generalizations on them to be honest. and i try and keep what i say NA/FI neutral.

but, it's hard for me to agree with that completely. bigger is only better if you want peak gains(or are talking post turbo exhaust size), and quite a bit of people don't look into the overall net changes. i would take an avg of +5 hp all over, compared to a +15 hp * 6750 rpm. ya know? something rarely seen in conversationgs. just a random example there fyi, since i'm not well versed in TL mods yet.

anyway, area under the curve FTW. but you are right and it probably isn't even a visual difference on a dyno.

bro I think you got confused:

2.25in./2.25in. 11in. 17in. 11378 14378
2.25in./2.25in. 14in. 20in. 11385 * 14385 *

I went with 11385 which has a bigger casing and 2.25 in-out....

usually the drop down is within the downpipe/jpipe/whatever they call it on different vehicles, and you never actually see it.
Well kinda true....thats why I have my precats ceramic coated inside out ....but you want to pipe diameter to be big enough to accommodate the exhaust pulses through...in short no restriction....but it shouldnt be tooo big that you mess up the back pressure....

I was just wondering why.
i went with 2.25" through out I was thinking of doing a different setup in the near future....there are no exhaust whore;s on this website (like wheel whores) maybe I can start that trend LOL....make em and sell em at cost and make something else LOL....

Custom is no longer cheaper....i got a quote for $900 for EVERYTHING from a decent shop 2 years back....I paid DOUBLE OTD yesterday....

but, it's hard for me to agree with that completely. bigger is only better if you want peak gains(or are talking post turbo exhaust size), and quite a bit of people don't look into the overall net changes. i would take an avg of +5 hp all over, compared to a +15 hp * 6750 rpm. ya know? something rarely seen in conversationgs. just a random example there fyi, since i'm not well versed in TL mods yet.

anyway, area under the curve FTW. but you are right and it probably isn't even a visual difference on a dyno.
Veggie...its basically where you drive....if your always in the low rpm range, I would make the exhaust pipes smaller and keep the merger/xpipe further away...you will get killer low end with this....

else go with bigger diameter and merge/xpipe kinda close (shorted primary pipes) and see ur high end take off
