pulley
This has been discussed to death, there is nothing to worry about. I have had pulleys on two different Acura's for a total of 240,000 miles of use. Your engine will rev faster and pull harder, since it's accelerating a 1.5 lb. weight as opposed to eight pounds. IMO, the only thing the stock one does is maybe dampen the on off feel thru the pedals or steering wheel of the AC compressor cycling in and out, thats about it. Dyno gains run six to eight HP.
i'm all about working smarter not harder....in this case your engine doesn't work as hard moving 1.5 pnds than it does moving 8 pnds. in an essence, engine is working less complimenting the longevity of your car.
No negative effects from getting an aftermarket crank pulley. It won't really give you any HP, it'll just "free up" the HP you already have. (Your engine will rev more freely).

i went for the UR pulley, i haven't had a single problem - however, i know 01tl04 mentioned, back when i was shopping for one, that there's an ebay pulley that works just fine for $45. personally, went with UR for their brand name - from my personal experience: you get what you pay for

hit up josh aka excelerate for the UR Pulley - $200 shipped to your door
good luck!

AGREE FULLY... I would never put an ebay pulley on my car... besides no one I know of has done the ebay pulley... so you really don't know any longterm effects... on the otherhand... there are hundreds of aziners I can think of with the UR pulley with no complaints... well except for maybe a noisy belt from a couple of the underdriven guys
i got everything, but the damn AEM V2 it's being shipped from California, i'm hoping it gets here by Tues. and i'll call you.
If you look in the CL forum you will find those guys have been on a specific brand crank pulley from ebay-BOMZ, the mods and others have been using it for years- like 6 years
No exploding part- no problems
Not as pretty but certainly well made.
I totally agree to be careful what you buy- especially on the bay,
because this is a CRITICAL engine part!!! It fails and its like the timing belt broke- internal carnage $2500+ external carnage 500+??
Never heard of it happening to properly installed/torques pullies though
Gen2 megamod fsttyms1 got a bomz many months back and is happy with its construction and enjoyment factor- saying- why didnt I do this before!!,
That from a man who dropped a CL-S motor with 6 speed trans,,,, in an 00 TL, after 5 transmission failures and 200,000 miles. Now well over 250 and pulling strong- the 200k miles TL motor was in excellent shape inside.
I looked in to them for myself to make my own judgement/decision.
Some will talk about possible balance issues- but its a `billet` ~a solid block of aluminum~ thats placed in a milling/cutting machine,,,, its many cutting tools under the control of a 3D mapping computer.
You have seen this technology on car or bike tv shows, where they custom make rims or shifters or whatever part. Put the metal block in , close cover- cooling spray of oil and small shavings of metal appear inside the machine. 4-8 hours later you open the door and there is a complete unit, ready for final polishing and inspection.
Its strong because it was solid when it went in the machine, and now milled to exacting tolerance, then hand inspected, weighed, polished etc
UR is a reliable well trusted unit and worth what you pay according to all who own one. It comes with directions which many others dont, Nice laser etching of the company name and a nice surface.

I dont know what they currently list- I have written the seller before and they made a listing for me, they just hadnt gotten to the computer duties yet that day,
that was a gen2 part.
There may be a differance with gen3 pulley. I am not ~one of you~
Ask Josh- Excelerate, if different parts, might be-- with the larger engine size and such

You can go with UR, dont go with the underdrive size though. Go with the stock size UR pulley. Or just dont even put one in and leave the OEM pulley
i believe UR is the only company that makes a stock size pulley, if you've got a big system in the trunk you need the stock size. the underdrive doesn't let the alternator put out enough juice during idle

If you have a stereo system over 600 watts RMS and a supercharger you want the stock size pulley (Ultra Sc). It is still lightweight and that is where most of the gains are from:
