I have had the same problem on other cars, so I finally just go and rent a 3/4" impact with a adapter to my 1/2" impact wrench. Last time it was $16 for 4 hours, plenty of time. Even though it is on a smaller compressor, I get 2-3 good hits and let the compressor recharge everthing. Usually comes off on the second attempt.

I am seriuosly not suggesting this, something I have heard of people doing. Funny though.

BTW, I've done the ol starter trick, but not on the TL yet. It won't hurt anything if you do it right. It actually is the preffered technique on inline V6's where the pulley's face the radiator. There's no clearance to remove the drive pulley with an impact gun without removing the radiator
At timing belt change time you have to:
1) Remove the radiator
or
2) Use the ol breaker bar/starter trick. Saves a lot of work this way.
Just be careful, remove the fuse to prevent an accidental start, and lock the bar against the subframe or ground before bumping the starter.

my ir's a ti2135...took teh stock TL-S bolt right off too...and boy does it feel good....can't really beat on it cause i only have 200 miles on the thing....but it picks up even better on the tl-s then it did on the reg. TL. used teh same belt they recommend for the 04-06 TL UR Pulley.
