'04-'08 TL Catback Exhaust by Excelerate!!!
Alright, after working with a number of companies, I finally have been able to have a custom exhaust produced. Billy Boat Exhaust has produced an exclusive catback exhaust for Excelerate and we are now releasing it to Acurazine. Billy Boat is know industry wide for their high quality and great sound, and that is just what I had them use in this system.
Basically, what we have designed is a catback exhaust system for the 04-08 Base TL. However, as we have seen recently this should be able to fit the TL-S also. We are actually looking for 2 more test subjects. Our base test subject was an 06 Acura TL A/T with an AEM CAI, provided by twigglius. Thanks Chris. He has been able to enjoy the system for a few days now. He can comment on it as well. We are looking for two more test fitters in the Phoenix, AZ area; one 04-08 TL 6 Spd so we can see the gains with a 6 spd (we estimate another 3-4whp) and a 07-08 TL-S so we can check test fitment on the TL-S, hp gains, and we want to offer quad tips on the TL-S setup
So what we have developed is an XLR8 Catback Exhaust for the 04-08 TL Base specifically. It is a T-304 Stainless Steel Resonated Catback exhaust system with dual muffler and 4.5" rolled angle tips. We will be offering two systems for the base TL: resonated and non-resonated. The resonated system is deeper and throatier than stock with a sporty note and no drone. The non-resonated system will be more aggressive and slightly raspy likely with a few more hp.
Peak gains on the system were about 8 whp and 7 ft lbs of tq on a 06 Base TL A/T and BB said their dyno usually reports 3whp less than most other dynojets. Peak #'s went up about 7 whp and 5 ft lbs of tq at redline from 209whp to about 216whp and 186 ft lbs of tq to 191 ft lbs of tq. As you will see when I post the dyno there was no loss of power or torque throughout the entire RPM range and peak torque was acheived around 3K. All these gains were on an Automatic Transmission and with the resonated system. I'm expecting peak gains to go up at least 5 whp with a 6 spd and non resonated. We will find out though shortly. So without further ado:

In with the new:
Here's a video of the dyno and the car pulling away at WOT:

I will post up the dyno once they give it to me in a format I can post. All I have is bad fax copy right now.
These should be ready to ship in about 3-4 weeks. I still have to dyno test and get a video clip of the non-resonated setup on a 6 spd. We will also be making a J-pipe shortly too and a quad tip setup for the TL-S.
The price on this exhaust will be $975 shipped to the lower cont US on the resonated setup (list is $1100) for the AZ members and $950 shipped to the lower cont US on the non-resonated setup (list is $1075). You may send payment to excelerate@sbcglobal.net via Paypal and please specify what you're ordering and for what car.

Also consider the cost of the materials and the craftmanship, and esp how the cost of materials like steel and transporting them has skyrocketed. And you can take $75 right off the top of the price for shipping costs to the end consumer and CC fees. And that doesn't even account for the time and money invested in this project just to get this exhaust made. I talked to one company who wanted $10k to even make the system, and that didn't even get me any inventory. Just to produce a prototype it was $10k.
That being said, I think the price is fair, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

The exhaust looks and sounds great. It seems very well built and its extremely sturdy! ... This was well worth the wait! I hope the videos that MB took do this thing justice.
Even his wife liked it.
Once I get my first shipment in I will have a local customer come down and do some of my own pictures. I really want to get a 6 spd dynoed too with the non-resonated setup.

this is good, more products to choose from! props to excelerate for getting this done. though many AZ-er don't realize, essentially what aznbo and excelerate have done is start a market for the 3G, where a market basically doesn't exist.
and no, there is no "good" exhaust setup that will be under 700, unless the supply aka competition is really heavy...which clearly this isn't. We're not talking about a million ricer wannabes who either buy the 350Z (i was one of them), or a G35...which when you add the total number of those drivers it's amazing....we're basically 20% of 1 model offered specifically in the States who are interested in mods...so for ~$1000, i'd say that's pretty cheap.
and yea excelerate is right, the price of metals as skyrocketed like none other. If you pick up any consumer magazine regarding stocks/money, gold metal is a hot topic right now. Silver as well. the price per oz of metals this quarter is ridiculous.
anyway long enough rant. just wanted to point out some facts that we all need to keep handy,
personally i can't afford a $1k set up so i wont be getting it, but for those who can and feel unsure, i'd do it, because honestly, the 3G TL is a very VERY nice car, and so far the next generation of cars really dont impress me. This is probably the first time i've been disappointed by a new production cycle. I remember when they reintroduced the mustang i was floored. When the 3G TL was debuted I probably came a lil in my pants (TMI)
anyway, props again to excelerate for fabricating another option for us, let's hear some money flow and some exhaust clips!!

will not effect emisions since it is just a catback
as for the actual setup, the bends look slightly restrictive but overall looks like a solid setup, really competes with the comptech since it puts the comptech's non stainless steel parts to shame, I'd choose this setup over the comptech setup anyday, the sound was stage 3 like, so it should be fairly quiet interior
would like to hear the non resonated one

Looks Sweet!!!
I wonder how this compares to Comptech, ATLP, and Greddy (daily drivability-wise). I already see the EvoIIs for sale on the blackmarket.
If it isn't too menacing inside the cabin I think I'm in...
...But too bad the tips aren't square or rectangular...
...maybe no one's going to be able to pull this off.

Looks damn nice - I especially like having the resonator option - very good business idea. I like the fact that it's all shiny unlike the GReddy but it won't look so nice after a week on the car. Sounds real good, too. If I didn't already have (and love) the GReddy........

it's easier to just fab from the larger resource pool which happens to be oval/circular exhaust ends. I'm sure if they really but the money into it, we could get some rectangular setups but probably for 1400-1500 instead, the extra money going towards fabbin the right tools for the rectangular setup.
now how many will pay for the same performance and note and add the 300+ additional?
this is what I realized yesterday, and decided to grab all the other power mods and just do the magnaflow welding. push come to shove, if i was that desperate for power, it'd be easier to just lighten the weight of the car. every 100 lbs is another 1BHP. if I lost 50 lbs my car will go 1/2 a pony faster! think about that..lol

I have to say excelerate I'm VERY impressed in this muffler. Now the big question is just how big r these tips compared to the Greddy because I can fit my arm into that thing. Also if all possible for us to get side shots that would be fabolous because my biggest gripe with the greddy was the fact you can see the exhaust from the sides even with the aspec kit. I'd really like to see how that muffler looks from side angles to get a real idea on how it really suits the car. Again VERY impressed on your product man.

Sounds great, and the quality looks like it's there.
For all of you guys wondering, this will work with any other bolt-ons (Pro-Cats, J-Pipe). Also, the mufflers won't be visible from the side like the GReddy; that's the point of the ovalish cans.
As for the price, I think it's more than fair. Any exhaust setup for this car will run you ~$1k.

This would work awesome with the ATLP J-pipe and e-shift cats.

I have been driving around with this system for 4 days now. All I can say is that I love the tone of this exhaust. It's not too loud and it's not super quiet either. One thing I have noticed is the low end gain. I can really feel the difference when I come off a red light or a stop sign if I get on it. I will take and post some pics in the next few days so you have some more to view. Let me know if you have any questions about my experience thus far.
Josh, this took a bit longer than we thought but as I said before I believe it was well worth the wait! And like you said, the babies mama siad, wow... that sounds amazing. Maybe that's because she is Asian?

twigglius how is the drone on the system? I was speaking to a friend who is well aware of the BBE systems and as soon as I spoke about it he was like "BBE for an Acura?! they usually deal with Corvettes and high HP vehicles and they usually cost some good bank. Fortunately we have a good deal on the table and I just want to know how it feels when at idle. Also just another reminder when you take pics if you can do a side shot of your car so we can see how the muffler hangs and shows out the back of the vehicle I'd greatly appreciate it. Hope you're enjoying it man!

Yes I will take some side pics for you.

I still need a 04-08 M/T TL and a 07-08 TL-S to go for test fitment too. The M/T TL will need to purchase the non-resonated exhaust setup. What we will offer to those who make the trip is $100 off the price and a free dyno and free installation. The testing will be done in Phoenix, AZ at Billy Boat.
