XM losing signal

My XM radio has been loosing signal this past week. When I drive it would loose signal constantly. This is in the SI, NY area. Has anyone been experiencing this lately? Other places when I drive the XM is fine.
I called up XM and they tell me that there is an outage in my area and they have engineer's fixing the problem.

I've been getting the same thing in Queens. I thought XM would at least have great signal where there is no obstuction to the sky but I was just cruising around in open areas and still the XM lost signal often. What gives.

I was cruising around on the highway where I usually get great signal but just recently I have been losing signal.
Thursday I was driving on the Belt Parkway East (right when you get off the Verrazano)and I was losing signal constantly. As I got closer to JFK Airport it stopped losing signal.
Just today I was driving on the 278 heading toward outerbridge I was losing signal also. Once I got on the 440 it stopped losing signal.

I have a similar problem. I live in Manhattan and never expected a very good signal in the city. Some things to look out for are, very cloudy days, trees, and powerlines. I was in up state NY this weekend and lost the signal on numerous occations where the only explanation was dense trees to the south or power lines running along the road.

I only lose the signal in one spot on the Grand Central/Northern State, right at exit 28. The road dips a little and there are dense trees in that area. Other than that spot I haven't had a problem. My reception is even good in my underground garage.

XM has terrestrial repeaters

When you're in a larger city where they have the terrestrial repeaters, you'll get great reception.
Unless the repeater is failing, which is what I assume is happening.

When you're out of range of one of them, you'll rely on the satellite, which is when cloud cover, trees and other features will disrupt the signal.

I live about 20 miles northwest of Boston. On my way to work, the signal constantly cuts out. When I get near Boston it comes in perfectly. In fact, going through the tunnel, I only loose XM for about 25 seconds. I loose FM for almost the entire tunnel length.

I live in Westchester,NY and the signal was ALWAYS fading. Seemed worse on certain stations then others. Perhaps I had more issues with one of the two satellites then the other. I too blame it on the hills, trees, buildings etc.

Too bad that is the terrain that I live in. My daily drive had more areas of drop outs and no coverage then signal.

When the 3 months free service expired I did not subscribe. I probably did not listen for more then an hour straight EVER to it anyway. What is the point if it keeps dropping?

I like some of the Sirrus stations better on top of that.

Still loving the TL and bluetooth and DVD-Audio.
