Hey guys, I found this pretty amazing deal on the latest 2013 Acura White Navigation DVD ver4.B1 -- for $29.95!

While $29.95 sounds a bit too good to be true, I thought I'd be the guinea pig so I went ahead and ordered one. I'll let you know when (if) it arrives. The seller appears to be a legitimate web business, but I won't vouch for them until I get the DVD. Until then, caveat emptor.

Hopefully it's legit at that price, I'd consider upgrading my 2011 disc. $150+ isn't worth it to me, if it's that off I'll just use my phone.

 

The only reason I paid $150 for my NAV disc is because my TL had the original 05 disc in it. I figured it was worth it considering it was 7-8 years old and didnt even show my neighborhood. Im def interested in update on this $30 update disc. thats super cheap!

I'll update this thread as soon as I receive the DVD. I had the original in my '08 (ver4.65 from 2007). For just $29 this makes sense to update.

Now I just need someone to tell me--in english--how to do the "OK screen" Navi hack. (yes, I read the thread, all 200 conflicting pages of it)

You will need an Orange Disc-- version 3.XX, as the White disc version 4.XX is for '07+.

However, the site doesn't have the Orange disk.
Orange Disc needed for your TL and mine.



BTW, I suspect these are pirated discs: the Orange disc has not been copied easily, while the White disc has been, there is no pic of the disc, the price is quite low and the site is new and generic, with only e-mail contact info.

 

How do you make it play dvds?

 

Will, can you please clarify who you're referring to needing an orange disc?: I have a 2008 Type S, with a White DVD installed, ver4.65. The orange disc is for years prior 2007, correct?

 

My posted quoted 350 ('06 TL) and Zachlone ('05 TL), who need the Orange DVDs, as do owners of the '04-'06 TL.

Yes, '07+ uses the White discs.

 

Website looks super shady lol.
I also don't know about the whole, CD being in an actual CD case.

When Acura sends them out, they are in a plastic/cardboard flip case, which the CDs are inserted into the pockets.

..but I hope these work!

Thanks for pointing that out Will, I didn't read into it too much yet. I do have the orange disc in mine I believe from 2011, it was in the car when I bought it last year. Sucks the orange ones can't be copied easily, they already made their money on the car I'm not paying $150.

I bit on this but haven't gotten anything other than a Paypal receipt and order confirmation email. I think I may be able to figure out if this is legit but need help from someone else who ordered. PM me if you have.

 

I did order one but it didn't work on my car is a 07 tl type s. They sent anothereone last Monday that should work on my car. I let you guys know this week how it goes.

 

just letting you know, the OK button cannot be deleted on the 07-08 TL, only 04-06

 

why didn't it work on your car? doesn't the 07 TL take the white 4.b1? did they make you send the original one back?

also, how long did it take from ordering to be delivered?

 

It took 6 days from the time I paid to when it got on the mail. No I didn't sent it back. I just send them a email with a picture with the screen error and they answer back saying sorry they mail another one the next day.

May be a wrong dvd type because the car read it but when it come time to show the ok screen it say error wrong cd. The navigation unit do the updating process but on the end I get that error

Yes is not oem type I a copy. It works because the one I have for 2012 is a copy too. So if they do the right dvd type it work.

 

I didn't see Dannyz post if he ever got the DVD and if it worked?

 

Didn't get it as of today (Friday) which is 8 days from my order date. Still waiting, perhaps the two storms slowed delivery down a bit, but I assume it should be due very soon. I'll post when I get it.

 

So just to let you guys know.. it's PROBABLY fake. I bought one from an ebay seller and got the disc today. It probably works, but I'm not even going to try it.

When I first got the disc it felt really thin and cheap, cheaper than a dvd-r. I pulled out my old disc to do some comparisons, here you go kids!

As you can see the real one (bottom) the letters are sharper and easier to read. When you touch the letters on the real disc you feel how it sinks in at your finger tips. You do not feel this with the fake disc.

This is what it looks like when you hold a real disc up to the light. As you can see, all you see is a reflection. So what happens when you hold the fake up the light?

I suppose it's still a good deal, but I'd prefer to have a real disc so my laser doesn't burn out trying to read a cheap copy.

WHY!!! I'm sorry. Hell I'm surprised the Moderators haven't locked this thread since they're so quick to lock threads of posts about how to copy Navi disc's. Some things ill never understand about my favorite site...LOL.

 

Well we're not actually talking about copying navi discs, we're talking about buying cheap navi discs and trying to find out if they're legit. It's possible maybe Navteq started using lower quality discs. Does anybody have an actual 2013 disc they can take a picture of?

 

Guys, a quick update.

Friday I emailed the company to let them know that I hadn't yet received the disc. They replied immediately, said their records had it processed on Feb. 22nd, apologized, asked me to verify my mailing address, and once verified told me they would send me another one that would go out Monday (tomorrow). It's my experience that sham businesses don't have customer service departments.

Regardless of what folks other experiences or opinions are with ebay or other companies, I'll let you know exactly what happens with my order with this company as soon as I receive the disc. We'll see soon if it's the real deal.

 

I email them today about the cd replacement they say it will be here by the 7th and that thisone will work 190% they tested it.

 

please update us when you get it since their prices go from $50 to $90 on March 10th...if the CD does work, it's best to know before then so we can order one! thanks

 

FYI, I bought last sunday night, emailed them for a tracking number on monday, said they shipped it USPS on tuesday, thus no tracking number.

I asked if they were used or sealed OEM. they responded that they are actually from cars that have been shipped overseas. plausible, but I kinda question that since they're the 2013 version. don't know the import/export business and if they're exporting as a third party? either way, if they did ship it last tuesday it should be here by tomorrow if they shipped from the continental US. i shall keep everyone posted.
