Will a working HFL unit drain battery?

hi guys,

sorry about this question but I've looked through a bunch of threads and can't find the an answer.

I see everywhere everyone talking about broken HFL units and units stuck with "booting up" loop draining their batteries, but will a working one do the same?

I ask because I've only had the 3G for a few months and never paired iphone until this morning but if audio doesn't work through HFL i don't see a reason to keep it connected if it'll drain even if it's a working one

A working one shouldn't drain the battery, I mean mine hasn't worked for awhile and hasn't drained the battery, however if you dont use it, might be a good idea to just unplug it to prevent it from one day going out and leaving you stranded.

OP, you will be fine if the HFL is working. it's when it goes bad is when it drains your battery.

i would disconnect yours right away. my hfl died and then i got it "fixed" by joel in florida. that lasted about 8 months and then it died again. i decided to leave in my HFL and a few weeks later my battery was completely dead. this was on a 2 month old battery so right away i knew it was the HFL. i unhooked it that morning and my battery has been fine ever since. long story short, disconnect your HFL if it doesn't work!

are you saying the solder reflow method isn't a permanent fix? I had thought this would have gave it a few more years

it's definitely not a permanent fix. But it gave me an extra 8 months so it was worth 45

My understanding is that there are different types of HFL failure.
One type of failure involves the HFL not shutting down 30 minutes after the ignition is turned off as designed. The HFL can continue to work-- it's just never powered off, thus killing the battery over time.
Another type of failure is where the HFL stops working, and never completes booting up; sometimes the boot process continues even after the ignition is shut off and kills the battery, while in other cases the HFL stops working without drawing on or draining the battery

The best way to check if a working HFL powers down properly is to check the draw with a multimeter when the ignition is turned off and 40 minutes afterwards.

This is related to https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-a...-940570/page2/.

Is your bluetooth still works after the solder reflow method? It was fixed in 2016 right? How is it today(2019)? Your response will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My HFL was working and it still drained my battery. I bought a brand new battery and it completely died within a month after I took out the HFL and haven’t driven it for days. Battery is still going strong
