I put my Audiobahn AVDVD1P into the cubby hole in the center of the dash below the navigation system screen. It works quite well as I can listen to MP3 CDs also.

It's simple. I just took out the large center cubby-hole and got the bracket from Honda. It's the same bracket used for the factory MP3 player and cassette player (or i-VES). I then just added the DVD player. The screw holes lined up and everything.

I should add that I have an Accord, not a TL.

that would explain it, the TL has a narrow space which almost nothing fits into

LOL, I guess I should have explained that at first. Sorry to mislead you. Anyways, what about having a custom bracket installed or something like that? Is it that the actual DVD player is too wide for the opening if you were to take out the little cubbyholes? If so, that sucks. I have seen TLs with the DVD player placed in the center console. I always thought that was cool. It was out of sight to thieves too. Maybe you can mount it under one of the front seats. Or hell, make a new hood ornament!

I'm getting a dvd player installed in my rear armrest today. It's kinda big, but they said they should be able to fit it w/o any problems. It's also cool because it has RCA inputs in the front. Here's a link audiovox dvd player
On most the other installs I have seen, they put a little trim piece around the face of the dvd player. It gives it a really clean look. Unfortunately, I don't think a DIN size trim piece would fit around it, so the guy said if I don't like the way it looks he can mold & paint a piece of fiberglass for like $40 or $50.
I also printed out the instructions from the DIY Aux In, hopefully they won't have any problems with that. If they do, I'll have them go with the FM Modulator. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes well. It's kind of nerve racking. First time someone else is working on my TL. I'll try to post pictures later on today or tomorrow.

I was very impressed with the install. Thank goodness! The sound is great. Just when I switch back to XM, I get a loud crackle for a split second if I don't turn the volume down a bit. Also for Video, I have to remember to press OK on the Nav Warning screen or else the DVD player won't work. This scared me for a second until I figured it out.
Here's the pictures as promised. Yeah I know the quality sucks, sorry best I could do for now.
DVD Player in the Armrest

Nav Screen

Sensor for DVD Player Remote (a very pleasant surprise)

Sensor & Switches
1 for Audio (XM to DVD)
1 for Video (Nav to DVD)

Thanks man. I'm ecstatic. I pieced it all together & paid $250 for the install. It was kinda high, but I could care less. Everything seems so perfect.
I got the plug & play nav2dvd module from soklov. It was kind of high priced compared to domofnav who has it for $150 (not plug & play).
Anyway, I paid $325 shipped for that.
Audiovox DVD player $150
So my total is $725. Sounds really expensive when I add it up like that. Oh well. It's freakin amazing and I love it.
The audio is spliced into the XM in the trunk. See this thread DIY Aux In

That's why I put it under the seat! When my second child arrives in Feb, I may move it to the arm-rest.

Install looks sweet. $250 is not bad considering they had to cut into xm. My install was $500 but I had few more things to install.

i wanted to put it under the seat, but wanted it to be at the front of the seat and not the back, too much plastic and a huge hump at the front to fit it under there. oh well, looks like it's staying in the glove box

PS2 or X-Box

Anyone have trouble with the PS2 or X-box skipping while driving? I had an installer tell me that since the PS2 is not made for shock and vibe I will have trouble playing DVD's and driving.

Is this true?

I can't speak for the slim PS2 but I can tell you the old PS2 has no problems at all under the seat. The xbox also works great!

I got an audiovox 6 disk changer from ebay for $210 (w/ shipping). It's going in the trunk. I've got all pieces except my headrest screens, which should be in tomorrow.

All in, it's about $900 for 2 Headrest Screens, a 6 disk changer, audio and video hacks, switches, etc. A local shop wanted $350 for install and another $300 to cut the headrests. Needless to say I'll be attempting the install myself.

I bought a Myron & Davis AD212 on Ebay for $46 brand new. I mounted mine on the back side of the center armrest trunk door on the back side so when you open the door, it faces front but then hides away after you load it. It has a remote eye in the front for control. Maybe someone will answer my post on how to remove the front right kick panel so I don't break it. Seems I always help people but they're not coming thru for me. This is my 3rd post on the subject. Goodluck. Contact me if I can help any further.

forgive my stupidity here... let me get this straight... you can hook up a dvd player and have it play dvd's on the nav screen....quite easily??? and this is for the passengers (kids) in the back seat?? they can see it ok from there??

I just sold my Armada and I had dvd installed for my kid in the back overhead panel, myron davis 9".... I would like to hook up on in the TL now, if its not a major job... I guess the screen is already there eh?

thanks.

I would say that the Navi conversion is fairly easy not a JOKE though. Getting the sound to the head unit is quite an undertaking if you want to do it properly (AUX adapter). It means a lot of taking apart. As for seeing it from the backseat, I'd say that would be quite annoying having to peek over to the left or right all the time. I built screens into the headrests of the front seats for the rear passengers. That's a lot more convenient but also a LOT more work. Check out my website in my signature for some tips. I've photo-documented the whole install.

thx zax... I will look at it...

that will probably get to be a lot of work and a lot of $$$

in my armada, the whole intall was $800.... thought if my 2 yr old could see the screen from the back seat, maybe I'll move him to the middle, it wouldn't be so expensive, since the screen part is already there... just need a player and sound lol.

I found the best location in under the TV. I use the living room for movies and the car for driving.

I just had mine mounted today under the passenger seat today. facing forward.

They removed the seat and cut the metall bar that is going across there, and re-did the grounds that are located there.
