What should I be seeing on CLOCK display area?+Navigation problems

Hello,

I just recently bought an used 2004 TL

My question is, what should be visible at the top regarding the clock? Am I supposed to be seeing more information than just the time and climate control information?

The reason why I ask is because the navigation screen is blank. You can see the backlight on, but it is blank/black. I can change stations and listentomusic and what not, but i cannot see what I am changing to.

Is this something wrong with the actual navigation unit, as in, center console unit, or is it something wrong with the DVD unit in the back which is causing this?

From what i've read, people have had the same symptoms as in blank screen and what not, and have sent the unit in the trunk to ALPINE. But my question is, am i a special case here due to the what I cannot see at the top clock display area? As in, no stations, etc? Thanks

On the top, you should see stations, climate control stuff, time. Have you tried pressing "setup" and seeing if the screen was turned off? Probably have...but ya just never know lol.
