A very cool iPhone app for any car
I came across this iPhone app the other day and was wondering if anyone has it. Rev by Devtoaster. With a module hooked into your cars ecu (somehow) a wifi connection enables your iPhone to become any sort of gauge...such as
Plus, it is a data logger and diagnostic tool (engine code retriever/reseter). There are some cons, that I see. For one is price $50...second, the iphone and module connect via a wifi connection created by the module. So your always broadcasting a network, which is on...even if car is off unless unplugged, and I hate keeping my iphone's wifi always on.
Here is there website and video. Anybody else her of this?

And here's a link with a quick video of it in use.

can you manipulate the ecu through the wifi connection? or is it just read-only data.
if its just read-only, who cares if someone sees the network? all they can do is check out your readings.

I only read the info on the site and dont know much about it. That's why I posted this...if anyone has better knowledge of it. But, your ecu is not being "broadcasted", but the communication of the module and iphone are. It is stated, that it is a "secure" network.
Trew...not sure it is just read-only. Because you are able to delete codes.

If there was a device that broadcast the transponder code and the radiofrequency code for the locks, that would be something useful to steal the car...

That would definitely be a cool thing to have, but the software being $50 and the Wifi to OBD2 hardware at $229 a little pricey.. But with the data logging, as well as clearing codes capability it may be worth it.. I am definitely interested in more info..
